1000 mile update!
So after 1000 miles on my lil ninjette, I am still alive with no crashes, much to the dismay of the probably 20 people who told me how a motorcycle was a deathtrap.
Notes: -Motorcycling is as fun as I imagined. Every night after work, I've been taking it out as long as weather permits (and sometimes when weather isn't permitting). -Always check the forecast. But a 20% chance of rain means steady downpours. And wet paint on the road is very slippery. -My visor only fogs up when I am going slowly. So never go slowly. -Highways are incredibly boring. Straight lines=no fun. I need to find more twisties in WI! -I need to get overpants ASAP. And replace the pinlock that was missing from my visor when I got it. -Backpacks are harder to put on when the straps get caught on shoulder armour. And it is less likely for glass bottles in my backpack to break when I am on my bike as opposed to walking. Questions: Are there any tracks in southern wi/northern illinois? What is the 6000 km service like? I just hit it, and the motorcycle shop near me is booked for the rest of the week. If I take it in at 6200 km will it be a problem? Or is it better just to do it myself (the only thing I've ever done related to vehicles is change a tire on my car)? |

Don't become over-confident, please. Keep it slow and stay alert. Yes, it is recommendable that you do all the service yourself, unless you don't have the proper conditions.

The speed thing was more of a joke. I've been very cautious about riding it on public roads (I treat every car as having a 16 year old girl driving it, while texting all of her friends). One of the plus sides of riding the motorcycle everywhere is I've explored Madison more in the past few weeks than in the entire 4 months I've been here. That's good to know, I've been having too much fun riding it, and want to enjoy every last day with it before the WI winter hits. |

Ride it like ya stole it till winter sidelines it... As long as you keep the oil changed and don't have any sounds that you think are a problem your good. keep the oil changed, keep it from overheating, an don't let it get bad enough to make scary noises and your pretty much good, but never get in the habit of neglecting your bike... You or the next owner will appreciate it
If you don't have the paper book search the maintenance schedule, or wait for me to post it way later today... No sir it shouldn't explode, no you didn't nor shouldn't do irreparable harm to said bike, yes you do need to service it if you want it to last though! It to far past my bedtime to joke to awful much, but keep on the sunny side, and enjoy the ride ill post a full maint. Schedule for ya or a link when I get up an going tomorrow unless someone beats me to it

Congrats on the milestone. Don't let it get to your head though. I was on my high horse too at 1K miles. I'm now at 26K miles on two wheels over 2.5 years with no incidents yet, knock on wood...
