What's it worth?

Ok so first some backstory. I joined here because i have a friend that told me she was selling her 2009 250. I have been without a bike for almost a year now and like the idea of the 250 for me. It is smaller than my last bike (71 CB350F), but has more power, is more capable, and definitely more reliable.

She originally told me she wanted 3000 for it, which I feel is a great price for an 09 black 250R with 460 miles. It also has rear lowering links and a tank protector. Lowering links will prob get removed, but that is neither here nor there.

So I rode the bike and really liked it. It was a little low (link is in 2nd to lowest spot) but i liked the feel, ride-ability, and it felt like something I can ride for a while.

I finally got my loan stuff squared away and got accepted for a 3000 loan and now she tells me that she still owes around 3500 on it and she doesn't have the extra money to pay it down right now. Of course I cant give her just 3000 and take the bike, because then kawi still holds the lien

I really want a bike and I feel like this is a really good opportunity, so I was wondering, what is it worth in your opinions? Should I give her more than 3000 so she can pay it off completely because its worth it, or should I go elsewhere and just tell her its her loss?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Offer her $2999.99. Never go with the asking price.

Yeah....
Id agree 3500 is a good deal for a 09 with 460 miles if its in mint condition.
At a dealership its gonna run upwards of 3800....so grab it while you can.

CC, what I was saying is that I can no longer obtain the bike for 3000. If I want the bike, and i do, I have to pay her more because with the lein she cant sell it to me right now then. I was just wondering what it is worth so I dont overpay for it. I am itching so bad to get a bike now with the nice weather coming up.

HK, It is in excellent shape. It has only maybe a few minor blemishes. I rode it and looked it over for a while one day. It has never been down and from what I can tell, has barely been ridden, as evident by the 460 miles.

It's a good deal considering a 2010 is anywhere from 4299.00 and up. I'd pay 3,500 with the amount of mileage on it, pristine condition and a decent color. You have limited choice in color for 2010 and I'm not at all fond of any of them. Less "decals" the better. Hell she's selling something that hasn't even reached the 600-700 mile breakin period. Frankly you're buying practically new for a decent price. I'm sure she hasn't ridden the crap out of it in 400 mi. Do the 3,500 if you can, you'll be happy you did, you certainly won't be overpaying for it. btw if you don't I can assure you someone else will.

i just bought the same exact bike yesterday...black 2009 ninja but with only 271 miles!!! i paid 3500 and it is a sweet deal. ask her to meet you in the middle at $3250 because, in all seriousness, it really isn't your fault that she's in this position, right?

...but at $3500 it is still an excellent deal, and make sure the warranty is still in effect. my gas gauge is on the fritz and i gotta have that serviced.

one more thing. even if you can find a new 2009 at a dealership (i was quoted $3500 from a dealer in new jersey two months ago) they will charge you tax and setup fees...up to $600 extra.

Buy it for 3k and loan her $500 so she can pay it off, hopefully you get your money back off her within a few months (just make sure you put the loan in writing, suggest 0% interest as its a friend). If you don't need the lowering links, you could make a few bucks selling them too.
