Yup - the 3 main ways to get pics to the site are in this sticky thread at the top of the pics section:

It's not a strong preference, but a slight preference, for people to use the attachments and load them just like you did in the first post. It automatically re-sizes the pics if they are too large, it creates a thumbnail, and the pic will be around for as long as this site exists. Over time photobucket albums disappear, so when you look at older threads with a good amount of linked images, so many of them no longer exist that the threads eventually become harder to follow. I use all 3 ways to load pics at different times though, so I'm certainly not advising or requiring that people are restricted to one that they wouldn't like.
