Keep me updated. I'm 200 miles over due for my valve check. I've been putting it off because this is the first week I've been able to ride.

I am going to take the bike to the dyno on Saturday. I am going to RnR Cycles in Sterling Virginia. I have used this same dyno from the beginning. This will be a good test to see how much difference the intake cam on the exhaust side makes. Plus I a always testing the nitrous.

Sorry Saturday the 22nd of June. My arm is in a sling from shoulder surgery until the 18 th of June. My season is screwed. I am going to test and tune at the drag strip ASAP and dyno run the bike. But my next mile run is not untill September.

In a sling till the 18th. Thats gotta suck. Just put the clutch and throttle on the same side and ride one handed. Who needs front brakes.

I don't have front breaks at all. But I can't load and unload the bike. And I can't put on leathers and I would look really funny trying to get my head into my helmet with one hand.
Ya six weeks in a sling sucks. You should have seen me get the pistons in the block with one arm. Took hours.

Looks like I will be going on the Dyno this weekend June 8. I am going to RNR Cycles in Sterling Virginia. I should be racing in Ohio. But my shoulder had rotator cuff surgery and I can't get into leathers.
The set up for the weekend is . 256cc forged 64mm pistons 12.5 to 1 compression Two intake cams Polished combustion chamber Ported head CR Special carbs stacks no air filter BrtrTis ignition system Takai racing coils Custom made dual exhaust 25 hp shot of nitrous I am hoping for 60 hp. But just really want to see the air fuel mixture. It was lean in the cold air of April. But now it is probably close. And I want to see the A/F of the nitrous. I am going to drag race after the dyno. So I need to set up for the short 1/4 mile.

61.10 hp . The 60 hp barrier is broke .

The intake cam was the ticket to jump 5 hp and it did it easy.
BUT I still have some work to do. I don"t want any more power. 60 is enough. Now I need the AF mixture to be more consistent. If it was rich or lean I can fix that. But I have a mixture problem. lean at start and rich at the end. The lean part is bad because it spikes the EGT. not bad at 1100 deg. But it goes rich and I need to be consistent to spray 100% power increase for 30 seconds. It is getting there. Just a little more tweaking. I forgot to get the charts. Rick has them at RnR and will Email them to me soon.

Always looking for an AF above 12 and below 13. And the exhaust should be below 1200 and above 975.

are you measuring exhaust temps at the header? Sorry, just curious what your method is
I'm glad to see the exhaust/intake cam swap made the difference. Who knew it would be something so simple. |

This is the dyno graph from the all motor pulls. I have the timing retarded slightly and with oxygenated fuel it can make a couple more I would think.

Thanks for posting that Eric. I appreciate that.
Looks like your peak hp is at about 12.5 or so, and you're dipping as low as 12 or high 11's at the top. I've been trying to get a feel for the best AFR for these bikes with my EFI setup. My bike seems to pull continuously when I set it to 12.7, better than it did when it was set at 12.9. Your pull looks like it agrees with my results. Maybe I'll try 12.6 or 12.5 when I'm at my track day and see which one pulls the best on the back straight. |

This engine loves fuel. I have no idea what that blip at 8.5k was .. But Rick was just kinda warming the bike up. Might have been a throttle thing.
I wanted to see if the 1 mm more exhaust lift made a difference. Maybe a little. But 32 at 12.5 is what it always does. Even with nitrous 12500 rpm is top power. Below 12 to 1 on the A/F and the engine will chug and really loose power.

I have raced with Ali and used RnR since 2008. Ya really great guys. And real world tuners. They ride fast bikes all the time. So they know what they are doing. At one point Ali had the fastest zx12 and the fastest 250 ninja.

I remember when he was rebuilding the 250 and the pistons had dimples in them from running nitrous...he didn't care and still used them, lower compression

The cast pistons limit him to 10 to 15 hp of nitrous. Nitrous loves compression.
