Throttle Loose

So my whole throttle housing is loose. It almost appears as if the throttle slides into the handlebars and is locked in there via pin, clip or???? Anyone know where to tighten it up?

Be sure to use the proper screwdriver. I believe those screws are JIS screws.

I went outside and tightened those screws and it didn't help. The whole assembly appears to be loose. I can wiggle the throttle and even the brake reservoir moves along with it. ???

Yes, that throttle housing normally has a plastic pin in it which is supposed to mate with a hole in the handlebar. I guess your locating pin is broken off. The front brake housing, however is supposed to be tightened down with it's own set of bolts/screws... at least that's the way it is on the new gens.

To "fix" the throttle housing from rotating on the bar due to the lack of the locating pin, you can either buy a new housing or fatten up the portion of the bar where the throttle housing is supposed to clamp on to. I have used plumbers teflon tape, in similar situations, wrapped around that portion to fatten it up enough so the housing has something to clamp down on.

Is the bar loose in the riser? There's a 6mm allen head screw under a plastic snap-in cover that goes through the riser into the end of the bar. The brake reservoir clamps to the bar independently of the control housing pod, so if both can move that makes me think the bar is loose. Also check the two riser bolts that hold it to the upper triple clamp.

It did end up being an allen screw underneath that black plastic cap. 1/4 turn and she was tight. Thanks.
