Would it be possible to use water nozzle lights such as these for a LP light?

Technically, it shouldn't work for anyone, don't feel bad. Poke Pat to get his pics loaded here or any other pic site that doesn't require a logon before linking 'em.

Thanks for the tip Kelly, I've been thinking of what to use to fix that sagging on those lights.

I put the ties on the inside of the frame between it and the rubber grommet for the signals. I had to use 2 zipped together in series as I only had thin short ones. The longer, thicker ones wouldn't fit properly. You'll see once you get in there.

looks good, but it is kind of hard to tell what the kit looks like from those pics. they should have different closer day angles. the top and bottom pics don't seem to have the turn signals. but yeah... looks pretty good from what i can tell.

I was thinking the same thing about the pictures... He does have a ton of good reviews from people who have bought fender eliminator kits from him...so I assume it must be of good quality. I'm on the fence on making it my fender eliminator choice...there just seems to be a ton of poor options for removing the fender..

i think this is the same kit. the turn signals seem pretty dim during the daytime. idk... maybe it is just the pic. it does seem like a pretty well thought out package though. i wonder why the ebay one is so cheap? on the website it seems to be going for $150.

edit: oh.. this is a different kit. the one they are selling on ebay has crappy pics on this site too.

this is the higher kit. yeah, so i don't know how the ebay one attaches. this kit comes with the fiberglass mount.

but in either case, not sure if cars would see those turn signals in the daytime.

I don't think those turn signals are very visible either... kinda lame that they don't have any type of cover either. I'm going to give cutting/dremeling a shot before I spend $$. (although the spray from wet roads kind of concerns me)

hey, that's the price for looking cool. lol

but yeah, i know what you mean. the back of my jacket and passenger seat area get pretty dirty when the roads are wet. i bent back my safety sticker bracket that sits below my license plate (to act as a mini fender), so hopefully the next time it will catch some of the spray.

What are you guys using to cut the plastic? a hacksaw? Those cuts look pretty good considering the plastic is all curvy.

Hi Pat - welcome! Mostly folks have been using dremels to make the cut

I used a combination of a Dremel, saw, X-Acto knife, and lighter; Dremel and saw to cut, X-Acto knife to shave off the melted plastic from the Dremel, and a lighter to smooth the plastic when it's all done.

I'll post pics soon.

Off the top of my head, just to give you an "Idea" of how.......

1- Remove rear seat/cowl.
2- Remove both L/R black side panels.
3 - Remove front seat
4 - Remove turn sig bracket bolts
5 - Remove turn sig screws.
6 - Remove brake light bolts & un plug tail light/plate light.
7- Remove Left rear cowling
8 - Remove Right rear cowling
9 - Un plug turn sig wires(next to battery). Pull them out towards sigs & remove sigs.
10 - Separate brake light from fender/ two tabs, Remove fender/tail light.
11- Drill out rivets to separate turn sig brackets from fender.
12- Trim fender. < Carefully!
13 - On fender remove plastic around turn sig mounts, use as washer's on inside of bracket with grommet.
14 - Mount turn sigs on brackets, with grommet/ plastic washer you made.
15 - Run turn sig wires thru fender / install fender.
16 - Bolt up turn sig brackets(turn sigs)
17- Run turn sig wires & plug in.
18 - Install tail light.
19 - Install R/L rear cowlings.
20 - Install front seat.
21 - Install black side panels L/R.
22 - Make L bracket to fit tail light mounting plate & plate bracket.
23 - Install bracket & plate bracket mount(plate bracket goes up-side down).
24 - plug in tail lite.
25- replace rear seat/cowl.
26- Mount plate.

I used a weller soldering iron to cut the plastic, they have those plastic tips. Then a die grinder with 3m pad to smoooth it out.

Ok, I just got my comp werkes kit installed and all of the sudden my back turn signals don't flash, they just stay solid. Any idea what I'm missing? Sorry if this is a problem that has already been addressed elsewhere I looked for an hour, but didn't find the answer. :-/

If it has LED turn signals, you need to change the stock flasher relay to an electronic flasher or add resistors to the wiring. More info here.

Here's a quick chop I did tonight. I was too lazy to get "L" brackets etc. so it will be like this for a bit. I pretty much just chopped away most of the fender and then repurposed the plate light holes to put the plate bracket onto.

Lol i also have a Pitbull rear stand. I hated that tail since day 1, but im not gonna spend $80-100 for a fender eliminator kit when all you gotta do is CHOP off that extra tail plastic!

Im not into the whole 'LEDs and clear taillights like most kids and ppl younger then me", im old school and the stock turn signals and such look just fine IMO. If i were to do sumin with the rear... id drill and toss in a 'BLUE DOT' for the red light!

Anyhow, heres my Pics of my Chop,Cut,Rebuild!

2 befores (day i bought the Bike & rode right over to my Dads)

3 afters, taken last weekend!

Oh also, ive rode in the rain and wet roads.... there ISNT ANY backsplash on my back! So to that Myth of getting rid of your rear tail WILL get you wet.... disperse that myth! lol

Here's my version of a fender chop. I bought a Targa universal plate bracket with blinker mounts for $16 and took a pic from google of a Targa eliminator kit installed and duplicated the profile of the tail from that. Here are the results.

Decided to keep most of my fender in tact so my back doesn't get splashed when the road is wet. I also wanted to keep the rear reflector for safety reasons....and it's a law to have one.

Made a simple little bracket and mounted the reflector to it. I think it turned out pretty good but I may trim a bit more off so the end of the fender is more flush with the bottom of the reflector.

ghetto fender chop with custom metal numberplate/reflector holder

took my time and managed to clean up the cut edges to an almost perfect clean look.

bought a semi broken second hand OEM fender, and kept my original ones in case i wanted to put them back on.

Does anyone who has done the original mud (just chopping the mud guard below the factory license plate location) ride in the rain? I ride rain or shine, and I don't want road grime all over my back and seat if I do it. What are your experiences with this?

my experience with fender chop: muddy!

it sprays up onto the back light, and back seat. it doesnt reach far enough to hit my back, but i think if i had a big backpack it might get dirty. when doubling up with my gf, she gets a good dose of mud, hehe...

basically you have to keep the original fender if you want to avoid getting muddied!

Ok sounds good! The stock cattail doesn't really bother me anyways :P .

Thanks for the info .

Arg, I'm dumb. I totally meant to say Beavertail...

So what's the easier kit, Targa or EvoTech? Of the two which is the better fit? I would keep the factory turn signals but replace the brake light with an LED plug n' play anyway.

Not that I'm going to mod anytime soon... but good to know for the future.
