Took a Piece of Glass out of My Rear Tire. Do I Need a New One? (With Picture)
When I bought my 300 I noticed a chunk of glass in the rear tire. I took it out and it left a little crack in the tread, but the tire held air just fine. The dealer said the tire would be perfectly safe to ride like that. 1000 miles later I noticed the little crack is still there and was thinking maybe I should ask somebody other than the dealer if a small chunk of tread missing is a bad thing. It still holds air just fine.
Do I need a new rear tire, or am I just trying to make excuses to ditch my stock tires early to upgrade? (Click for larger image) Tire Damage.jpg |

That tire is toast you should give it to me for disposal before you hurt yourself on it. Like others have said who couldn't use newer tires.
