fluid on left side of the engine.

Noticed some fluid on the left side of the engine today, on the left engine cover and close to the base of the cylinder. More precisely - around and above the circular cover that can be seen just inside the fairing.
Don't know where it comes from, but some time ago I had leakages in both fork seals (later cured using Sealmate https://sealmate.net/ ). Wonder if oil could have flown from the fork. The bike is a 2011 fuel injected version.
Any ideas?

It seems unlikely that it came from the fork. You may need to take off the fairing, clean that area well with soap and water, then ride it and see where it's coming from.

Thanks.
Think what you are saying makes sense. I was taking a look just now, and saw that it's unlikely that any oil could have left the left fork leg and hit this part of the engine - at least not in any straight line. Turbulence or wind pressure could off course have had some impact. Anyway, I noticed that there seems to have been a small leak in a hose leading from the radiator. Need to keep an eye on that.. I have dried off most of the fluid, whatever it was..
The bike has almost 70 k km / 43k miles of trouble free driving, almost.
(Leaking fork seals cured with seal-mate, blown lightbulbs, some false neutrals (between 5th and 6th) and an intermittent fault with the warning lamp for the gas tank is what I can remember.) Guess it should be expected that some issues will arrive...

If it's oil, it won't come off your hands with plain water very well. If it's antifreeze, water will rinse it away quickly.

I used some old Esso engine cleaner. Removes about any fluid, as well as dirt.
I'll keep an eye on it, and see how it evolves..

Seems like whatever fluid it was, there are no or little new emissions.
