Paint Matching Tank

I have a pretty banged up tank and I been trying to find a way to "fix" it. I thought about pushing out the dents and evening it out with bondo or something along those line and then putting a carbon fiber vinyl over it but its not turning out great.

I decided to get a new tank and i been looking and found some on eBay for a decent price, couple scratches here and here. My question is will the paint match up?

I have a 09' and the only ones I can find are 08'-12' excluding 09'. I know they used different colors like sunbeam and passion red but is it noticeable different? Will a 08' tank match with my fairings or is there a big difference.

Here is my tank, the red spots was a quick fix to stop the exposed metal from rusting.

If they don't match your could carbon fiber wrap the whole tank, or spray flat black with plasti dip or something. At least get you up and rolling right while you save for a respray.

I have been having quite a lot of trouble getting the vinyl on, flat paper on this round tank isn't working to well

I'm interested in the original question as well. Has anyone seen firsthand the differences between the different model year reds?
