Guts: Trophies of your Adventure
Most of my long distance rides come from me traveling down to my family's home, it's a 2 and a half hour ride that I have completed many times. While riding you get use to the pelting of insects on your helmet and jacket, it's apart of the journey. I've seen my share of the left over carcasses that dangle from the impact point. I tend to either wipe them off or flick them to the side.
Yesterday was the first time I ran into the issue of almost having to pull over just to clean my helmet off, due to almost being visually impaired. As such, figured we could get some picture posts going of what we run into. Note: Image attached is just what I could get quickly. I had already cleaned the helmet so couldn't give you a better pic of that.

I don't have any photos of quantity, but the dragonfly I pulled out of the intake of my CBR is a challenger for size.

No, no locusts yet.
Worst swarm I encountered was the moths up on Mt Evans in the dark. All the bugs had settled into the road to soak up the heat - until I came through. One even got up inside my helmet. *shudders* No pics of bug guts for me. My videos sometimes have a splat on the lens.

This one wiggled it's way up into the ear pocket of the helmet and spent the rest of the trip down the mountain as I was looking for a safe place to pull over fluttering and walking all over my ear.
Nevada gets periodic infestations of Mormon Cricket swarms. Buggers get so thick that roads become dangerous from the slime of crushed bugs. The motorcycle events in Elko and Winnemucca have to warn riders to be extra cautious over the roads. Only ride I encountered them on was when they had reached north of Reno and had grown up to two inches long. The whole road "hopped" as one mass wave of crickets surged from the creek to the field.

Took the GF on a ride the other day, hit a huge bug and my only thought was "I wonder what the world record is for the fastest head butt?"

Yikes. A bird at 200mph probably packed a wallop. They don't weigh much, but that one would have had momentum....
