What kind of rider are you?

A couple threads recently had me thinking about the different riding lives people have. What kind of rider are you?

Commuted 100% on the bike until I got the car. I take the car for pizza runs, interviews, when its snowing, and when the bike needs extensive maintenance.

I used to ride everywhere, regardless of the weather/traffic situation. I've learned over the past couple years that I generally enjoy it more when I allow myself to take the car in a massive thunderstorm or if I've only slept for a few hours. My commuting is about 60% bike/40% car these days. I put the bikes away once it snows, and take them out once it's all melted in the spring.

I pretty much do "fun rides only," but they're certainly not limited to the weekend. If time and conditions allow it, I gear up and go out.

no category for me. I commute on nice days, with a fun ride home. I ride track when I can, and I ride on weekends.

in a perfect world I would ride track monthly. My commute would be to my dream job in south (Rocky mountains), so all my commuting would be for fun too.

I use my truck for commuting as it only takes ten minutes from home to work. Mostly during the week I rarely go out riding. Almost all of my riding is done on Saturday with a bit more thrown in on Sunday.

Weekend warrior! Rwar!

You can't, but I can. What would you like me to add? Also, might I suggest that this could be a multi-select poll, for people to choose more than one?

Can you add "I ride on the street when it's fun and on the track as much as I can."

Go ahead and make it multi-select. Thanks!

Weird - I can add the entry, but I can't change it to multi-select without deleting it and recreating it.

Thanks, let's just leave it as is. Now that @snot has her special category everyone should be able to pick one.

I commute to work by bike when the weather allows. I'd guess over the year it'd be about 65% Car/35% bike. And if it's not raining on the weekends I always try and ride some.

Add one to the jono/snot camp.

I put the bike away before the November gray drizzle comes and resurrect it once the sand and salt start to dissipate in the spring.

I commute when it's nice, but if I'm a bit late or too focused on work I'll just drive. On weekends I might ride, or walk the dogs, or do something else. The bike is just one transportation/recreation option for me.

The track has become my way of taking micro-vacations.

I'm somewhere between 2 and 3. I'd probably call it "I ride sometimes, but take the car frequently."

I ride because it's enjoyable. For the most part, that means I only ride in nice weather (crappy weather makes it less enjoyable for me, both during the ride and doing extra maintenance), though I've ridden to a Christmas party and there have been a few days I decided to commute even though it was raining (and I have no rain gear). I've had a decent amount of stuff in my tank bag or strapped down to the back of the bike, but I'm not going to make a huge hassle out of picking something up just so I can take the bike instead of the car. So during the week, I'd say I take the bike whenever it's convenient.

On the weekends, I'll just go ride around for an hour or two, solely to ride. No set destination, I just look for interesting roads or places on Google Maps and head that way (also gotta unlock the Waze map for editing because OCD).

Also, my car gets better gas mileage than my bike. =)

I ride every day it isn't snowing or raining when I leave, and about 40'F or so, tires won't hold below that.

This is pretty much where I'm at. I still have the Monster for street riding but I put very few miles on it these days. Instead I spend as much time at the track as I can, and probably average 3 track days a month

I really want to get to a track day, but the expense is holding me off.

Right now I'd need to get leathers and new gloves, figure out how to get my bike there, and pay for the track day itself. That's close to $1k right there.

If it's not icey out i will try to ride everywhere. If i know it's going to be raining buckets i'll take the car, though i don't mind a little rain here and there. Other exception is if i needed to get big stuff from the store like a case of soda or cat litter and food.

No category for me

I ride daily to commute to work/school/etc, I ride track all the time, I race, I ride rain/sleet/snow/ice/hail(which really hurts btw)/whatever the weather throws at me. I ride to the mountains when I can, I ride to explore as well though those trips seem to only get longer each time and I don't necessarily have the time to do them like I want to.

I ride the bike way more than my car. The car will sit 3 or 4 weeks at a time. That also is why I set up my bike with saddlebags and tailbag, so I can use it for running to the store.

I take the bike when I can, and take the car the rest of the time. Weekends that I don't work are for having some fun.

Recovering for the moment from falling off her a week ago. Knee got scraped, so that's healing, and my back went into spasm, so that will take some time to work itself out.

I love my car to bits, but I want my bike to be my daily. Eleven years on the road (more on the farm) and I'm sick of four wheeled vehicles all the time.

Riding the bike brings out my happy
