Arrow Ninja 250 Cross Country Maine to Florida *maintenance*

I want to take my 2007 Kawasaki Ninja EX250 Cross country on the slow scenic route from Maine to Florida next fall & i am wondering what recommended maintenance i should consider before taking this challenge? The engine has 24,500 miles with about 6,000 miles on the engine head and head gasket. The bike runs strong and does not burn oil after replacing the head myself.
its about 4,000 miles there and back, any recommended preparation maintenance i will take seriously. the bike doesn't burn oil but i am considering replacing the pistons and rings to have a fresh start on the engine but i also don't want to possibly create an oil burner on a non oil burning engine if the rings don't seat properly, is this even necessary? Please let me know what you all think/suggest and or recommend! Thanks All!

If it's running well and not burning oil, I would not change the pistons. 25k miles is not a lot on these engines if they're cared for. I'd concentrate on things like checking brakes and replacing pads if they're getting thin, changing the oil, checking that tires have 4,000 miles worth of tread on them, checking chain and sprocket wear, etc.

Welcome to the board, Josh!

Greetings & Salutations!!!

Let's see photo of your bike.

Don't replace perfectly-working parts with brand-new perfectly-working parts, that'll change nothing. Do compression-test first and if they indicate you've got worn-out rings, then replace just those, pistons probably fine. More likely low-compression would be due to valve-adjustment needs or fried valves from too-tight clearances. These bikes can go 200k-miles easily before needing rebuild.

1. do compression-test
2. measure valve-clearances, adjust if needed
3. change oil
4. check brake-pads
5. change brake-fluid if needed
6. tyres aired up with sufficient tread
7. oil chain
8. bring emergency supplies: tyre-plug kit, mini-compressor, extra oil, flashlight, MREs, etc.

That's really it! I've gone back & forth between Phoenix and SF Bay Area numerous times. Even between Phoenix & Portland too! With some camping in between.
