Question, though. :O Did you do a VoiceOver for this video or was it done on the road? Because IIRC, there's another video floating on the forum of this dude that crashed while motovlogging. Many comments on that thread were regarding what factors could've attributed to the crash and a popular hypothesis was that he may have been too focused/distracted w/ the commentary for his video and paid less attn to the road. --- Just concerned. :\
I appreciate the concern, but yes I am doing my blogging while I am riding. I understand the additional risk but so far have not caught myself off guard

For all my video, I start the camera as soon as I jump on the bike, and I just talk and talk for a couple hours then I go home and edit out what I want to show. Even before i got the GoPro I would talk to myself while riding when I got bored, so maybe I am just used to it.

I really thought I was getting views by embedding my video here, but after talking to other I find out that since the way I have to embed them is different then that way youtube wants them embedded, I will not get the clicks.

So I will now just post links to the videos going forward...Thanks to everyone that subbed...please tell your friends!!

I'm subscribed. I'd love to see more of downtown Chicago on your rides. I lived there (between Carol Stream and downtown) through 21. I moved out to San Diego a few years back and miss Chicago each day. I like watching the videos, but I can't believe how people live without lane splitting like we do out here. It'd cut your travel time in half.

Thanks for the sub!!! Yah not being able to lane split does suck...but again even if we could do it I don't think I would. I factor my drive time on a bike like I do in a car anyways. I am hoping to get more downtown videos for you guys but I just started a new job with my promotion so once I settle in I will get downtown more often to do some Vlogs

Starting my motovlogging career!

Hey ninjetters, been a while since I've posted much more than just passive comments here, sorry for being a lurker lol! But anyways, I've finally started to motovlog which I've been wanting to do since before I even had a bike :P it took me a while but that probably is for the better for various reasons. I'm really excited for this and I've come to give you, the wonderful ninjette community, a link to my first vlog for your wonderful, insightful and helpful feedback. Previously I was having problems with the video showing up in youtube's search but reuploading has remedied that, I'll still post it for you guys though to get some publicity. Feel free to leave me feedback on what you liked, what I can do better, that kind of stuff. Appreciate it!!

To properly link a Youtube video you have to put the ending of the youtube link in the youtube forum code.

So for your video it would look like this except you don't leave any spaces.

This is how I have my camera mounted since you said you were having mounting issues. My helmet has a deeper curve on the bottom than most so it should be fairly straight on any other helmet, It's pretty straight on mine but you can tell it's slightly off.

Also, having a set topic for your rides will help you make a better video. You don't have to do it all in one go. Take time to talk about it over your ride and edit to the parts where you start talking about it. It doesn't matter if you think the topic isn't important to anybody else, if it's something that you think is interesting and want to talk about then just talk!

Whoops sorry for the video not working lol, fixed it, thanks!

How did the audio sound to you guys? I'm really satisfied with how it turned out and I plan on keeping my setup like that. It's certainly better than in my exo-400 where just 35mph was complete garbage.

Thanks, yeah I set out with a topic today and recorded my ride to school. It was alright but I may not invest time into editing and uploading it. I'm gonna head out in a few hours when it's warmer and get some more footage, I've got a couple topics in mind and hopefully it will turn out well. Definitely going to have to edit stuff though I don't stay on topic well though lmao.

As for my mounting issues, it's actually pretty good on my visor it just doesn't play well with riding into the setting sun. I just need to reinforce the sticky mount with glue or something. I might try a side mount too, but I love the fov the gopro adds, just needs a little stabilization which I think I can edit in.

The audio was pretty good, much better than others I've checked.

You have it mounted ONTO the visor o.o? That doesn't get stuck in your field of view? I imagine that being pretty dangerous... Maybe you'd be better with a mount on the top of the helmet since I'm getting the feeling that you want a full range view and not the front side of the helmet. The only problem with that is trying to figure out how to wire your mic to it.

Adding stabilization to the video will cause slight blurring and weirdness. Or at least it did when I tried it, not that either of us need it. Your video was very stable unless you moved your head which would obviously agitate everything haha.

Actually it works out alright, I use some spare links to kind of move it up and in front of the visor rather than hanging directly down. Catches a bit of extra wind at 70+ but I can deal with it.

Well actually I'm a Ninja 500 motovlogger, hopefully that won't make you stop watching them lol. As for my mic what I did is I took a pair of headphones that had the mic in the middle for use with cellphones and I just cut the ear buds off and shoved the mic in my helmet. Pretty cheap method so I'm sure any generic 3.5mm mic you can find at like best buy or wherever would work out fine. My guess is because the cheek pads in my helmet are really tight so it helps stop the wind noise, because the same position in a different helmet didn't work at all.

Ah whoops, obviously didn't read properly.. my search continues

That sounds like a pretty DIY job, but it turned out alright. I'm using the Audio-Technica ATR-3350 in my vids and it sounds great, but I still get a little wind noise at higher speeds. It does depend on the helmet like you said.

I might check out some wind socks just to get it perfect. Anyway, keep up the videos!

No no no, I don't mean the sound of his voice, I mean the expressions he's using and the sheer number of times the word 'like' is used. Don't forget being nostalgic over his precious motorcycle moments stored on his GoPro, and his lifelong desire to be a vlogger like the cool kids.

Pardon my sarcasm. It's 1:00 and I really should be going to bed. I just finished a ton of homework, all after spending a weekend throwing up from food poisoning

Haha maybe we just talk differently here? Idk. It's my first time man I'm kinda just running with it. I'm used to talking to myself in my helmet without an audience lol. Go get some rest man. I'll try to not be so nostalgiac over my precious baby and maybe let go of some of the precious moments I've shared with her </3 I'll keep em coming for sure though

For the record, I'm not sure why but I sound kind of lispy/stuffed up when I talk on camera. I'm rewatching it now and I haven't noticed how much I say like lol maybe I don't notice it...

good go

Falcor it's a decent first time video. I liked the fact that the helmet had a strong outside noise cancellation which made hearing you very good.

Now that you know how to do it try to set up a ride where as other members shared has a purpose..like a trip or riding to the canyon curves etc.

Stay with it you could be a budding video artist Wardie

I do like your camera positioning. You mentioned not being sure of that. I think it works well.

If you feel like removing a sticky mount, I've been told that you can use dental floss to separate it from the helmet. I'm not sure how well it would do with being re-attached though.

Post a message to HoaryRider(youtube) and ask him about project 13. It is geared towards helping moto vloggers with less than a 100 subs getting started.

Thanks I'll check that out

Also a little update; I've been filming plenty but it hasn't all turned out that great. Got some good stuff today except I made the mistake of chewing gum while recording so you could hear me smacking... whoops.. I also added a side mount on my helmet which will probably work a lot better because after a couple hours today my neck felt like jelly from the wind catching the camera and having to hold my head up higher to see, So visor mount is a no go.

I have the same helmet, is there any reason you put it on the side instead of the top? I just mounted my gopro to the top of mine but if you found it works better on the side maybe I should switch it up. Just curious.
