Added an 03' ZX-6R to the stable!

So I made a trip out to Rancho Cucamonga last night with @alex.s and @Kevin2109, thanks again guys for the advice and moral support!! Ended up purchasing a new to me 2003 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636!!! I got home too late to take pics and I've been stuck at work all day so I uploaded the Craigslist ad pics for now and I'll get some of my own pics up soon... anyway, here you go:

It's pretty stock for now, it does have a tinted windscreen, flushmount front turn signals, HID lights, fender eliminator, solo seat cowl and a GPR steering stabilizer though. I'm sure I'll add to that list... for anyone that's seen my mod list on my 250 you'll understand! If anyone has any questions please let me know!!!

@ryan.chin, luckily I'm keeping the 250 then. That way I can just look at the 636 and only ride the 250!!

Thanks for the props!!

I'm not a fan of the pissed off headlights, but it looks like a great purchase. I know you've been looking around for a while.

psst! If it's got HID's and you're looking to mod it, you're halfway there. Bixenon projectors and LED strips

@Alex, thanks! I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it that way or not. I'm very pro Kawi green... so I'm a little torn, but I couldn't pass up the bike for the condition and the price!

@choneofakind, the headlights are actually one of the biggest reasons I like it...lol. I'll have to check around for what exactly you're talking about for the bixenons and led strips

Awwww yeahhhhh, great find Dustin.

I also recently picked up a ZX6R this past week but will keep riding my 250. WTF at that spike in gas prices this week?

Congrats man. Looks good. I think it should be a requirement after posting about receiving a bigger cc bike, to detail what differences you noticed, etc.

On a side note, why is the front tire so smooth?

It's a little different when this guy's been riding for a couple years and put lots of miles on his bike, then upgraded. Versus riding for a couple months then upgrading because "it's not fast enough" when the Ninja 250 will go 100mph. You must live on some salt flats if it isn't fast enough for you. I merged onto the interstate with a semi-truck going 70mph right next to me, I had no problem getting up to speed from 30mph within the short distance of the lane before it ended. When you crash your 600 are you gonna get a liter bike?

Thanks all for the props... I definitely love the bike!!! I also agree that there is a huge difference between someone that has only ridden for a couple months and myself. Anyone that's ridden with me (which is quite a few on this board) can tell you I've learned to be able to push the 250 pretty hard! I love that bike and will never get rid of it. It's either going to become the wife's bike or I'm going to turn it into a track bike!!

That being said... on the ride home I was cruising down the 15 South along with traffic, not really paying attention to the speedometer. The bike was butter smooth and I barely had the throttle cracked open in 6th gear (trying to conserve gas...lol). I glanced down and to my suprise I was doing 90 Had I been on the 250 I would have realized I was going this fast because it would be screaming and I would have been pretty close to WOT. The 636 just cruised like it was nothing!!!

Another thing I was originally concerned about because I had ridden the 11' and 12' ZX-6R was the size. I felt pretty cramped on those... the 03' ZX-6R is noticeably larger and is plenty big for my 6'2" frame where as my 250 I sometimes felt like Thrilla Gorilla (if you don't know... google it )

I haven't got a chance to really get it leaned over very far yet but on the couple roads that are at least a little curvy it seems to hug the corners extremely well. It's obviously bigger and heavier than the 250... but with a little getting used to it's still fairly nimble.

Again, I have no intention of getting rid of the 250... hell, noone will give me what I've put into it and I wouldn't expect them too. I also have way too much emotional value sunk into her as I've done everything myself (sometimes with the assitance of the great SoCal group ). It's just nice to add it's big brother to the garage and have something that's more capable on the freeways

Nice bike hate you. I like my little Ninja except for the exhaust sound. Sounds so crappy compared to a 600 or bigger.

Thanks again for all the congrats!!! This bike is amazing!!! Still undecided if I'll keep it silver or not... it's kinda growing on me... very "sleek". I may just do green accents for now and see how it goes

@Kevin2109, glad to finally be in the middleweight group!!! I can't believe how smooth this bike is!! It's gonna be a blast to mod

@Havok, for a while there I thought I was gonna be the only one without a 600 or bigger!!! Glad to have finally "stepped my game up"

@choneofakind, I'm definitely going to have to look into that!!! Those look freakin' sweet!!!

@Trailerboy531, This bike is amazing!!! I'm glad I went ahead and pulled the trigger... I can always get a ZX-14 later (trust me I will at some point ) Alex was telling me about the R6... that's gotta suck big time Sorry for your luck.

@Gurk, yeah between my impatience for getting a bike and my wife not really wanting me to blow all my deployment money and the tax return... I opted for the 636 instead of the ZX-14. I really do love this bike!!! It looks great and it has more than enough power for anyone...lol. I can't wait to start modding it though

So I guess my first post is too old to edit... so here goes some new pics of the 636! I've been working on making it match the 250... still several things I want to do... obviously starting with getting the tank painted:

I've really grown to love this bike... I can't wait until it is at the same level mod wise as my 250 was! Looking forward to many more miles and mods with her!

As always, criticism and ideas are always welcome!

love the new color scheme... Get that tank painted to match!

not a fan of the M logos, but to each their own.

Oh trust me I know! I've ridden the 2011 ZX-14 and the 2012 ZX-14R, they are both quite the beast! I will eventually own one... just wasn't in the cards for right now.

Thanks bro! I plan to get the tank painted, just don't have the funds right this second. As for the Monster logo, I actually ordered them without... they just left them on there for some reason. I haven't really looked to close as to whether or not I can peel them off or if it's under the clear coat. The 250 has a Monster tank pad and I plan to make this bike match that one... so it might end up staying on there.

Yeah, they don't look too bad with all of the green though. I'm just a "debadger". The Kawasaki logo on the tank of the 250 kills me since its under the clear.
