So How 'Bout that Weather?

They say it's cool in most of north America...

Here it's relatively warm and sunny.
The crocuses and camellias are blooming, our honeybees are foraging, drinking water, and pooping on my car.

I mowed my lawn yesterday!

What's going on?
How's the weather in your area?

We've inched up a little to -3, and the wind has gone down a tad. I was only outside for a few minutes earlier. That wind makes the cold a bit painful. I let my car run for 10 minutes, and then went to get coffee/soda. I kept her running while at Starbucks and she was still only just above the bottom line on the temp gauge. Work gave us a choice on if we wanted to come in or not. I chose not to. Aside from my coffee run, I've left my car parked up to my girly so she can't be bullied around by the wind.

It's not as bad here as it is in other places, at least.

I've been in that kind of cold. It sucks. One year in Montana the battery in the car froze solid. That was... interesting. In the "get rid of this before it melts all over the place" kind of way.

A meme is going around that says to take your soda cans out of your car or you'll find out why the Midwest calls it pop.

Since you asked...

Yesterday morning -

Subtract 10 to 20 degrees if you factor in the wind.

Not as bad this morning, only -21.

They are saying we will be almost 40 this weekend.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I mowed my lawn this last weekend! My herb garden is still hanging in there, slower growing though.

Still commuting to San Rafael. They're running cloud-makers full-steam! Amazing that they're able to make it rain on 24-hr cycle. Recently raining only at night. Last month it was raining only on Sat & Sun. Junior wizards practicing I guess.

Rain and thunder/lightning this morning! Only about an hour, but I'll take what we can get.

Linguistically, we say thunder and lightning, yet lightning happens in order to cause the thunder... that's weird.

All clear today. Waiting for the next storm to come in, supposed to be a bigger one.

They were right!

Exactly a week later than the previous photo (post #6) -

A 70F change in temperature in less than a week. It's raining now, but that's gonna change soon.

Leaving for work this morning the temp on the bike said 41, but for the first time ever my seat was frosted over so I think the readout might be off by a few degrees.

Yeah, there was frost on my car's window last week.
Had to warm up bike's carbs with hairdryer for a while before it would stay running after starting.

Between rain and work schedules, I haven't ridden in far too long. Like three weeks. How do people survive not riding all winter? Dude.

I do sometimes, but much of when I work are Friday and Saturday nights... not liking the idea of sharing the road with that many people when they're all drunk and tired. There are risks, and then there are risks.

I saw that. Largest pile-up in WI history apparently. Luckily it wasn't worse.

Not to mention it was also cold and windy as h***, so just being stuck sitting there waiting for help (with a non-running car) could be dangerous.

I was glad I didn't have to go anywhere on Sunday with the wind we got. 30 mph sustained with 60 mph gusts. I moved my car so it was parked right up against my bike, so I didn't have to worry about her at all. The news was showing quite a bit of damage everywhere.

Spring is...nowhere to be found...

-10 this morning, new record. Broke the record that was over 130 years old. Add some wind and you get -25 at times.

Looks like there's no hurry to complete the winter projects.
