Which jets should I buy?
So, my bike has been having the stalling problem. Not vapor lock, gas in the oil... I am going to be tending to this problem but in the process I will be replacing the airbox with the K&N pod filter, removing the Kleen air system, and installing block-off plate. I already have the MGP growler exhaust and two shims for the needles.
I would like to know what jets I should get and how to fine tune the carbs. Anyone got some info for me?

you need to tune the bike. that means trying different jets and seeing how they perform, changing trying some more, rinse repeat. starting with someone elses numbers is fine to start but it will not be correct. the correct jetting requirement changes depending on atmospheric conditions that vary by location. it wont be the same.
jetsrus.com for cheap jets also im pretty sure gas in the oil would not make the engine stall... maybe seize eventually or something but stall?

Might want to figure out your stalling issues before you start adding performance parts and jetting into the mix.

From what I've read on here I need to rebuild the petcock, check and adjust the float, check the needles and seats, and check the diagrams. Any other suggestions? The oil smells like gas.

sounds like a clogged main jet.
did it sit for a couple weeks? maybe havent been riding it a whole lot lately and its been more than a month since you put new gas in it?

I think the gassy oil and the dying are unrelated.

if it was flooding from a leaking float valve and/or petcock it wouldn't idle because it would still be flooded. on old bikes the needle jet can get worn down and turn more oval than circle and can make the jetting rich as it transitions to WOT but i wouldn't expect that from a carb so new. that happens in like 20 year old carbs that have like hundreds of thousands of miles. it is possible the diaphram is damaged...
have you checked to make sure nothing is blocking the intake? people say the stock snorkel feeds from the tail which has crap in it (tools, manuals, etc) that can fall down and block it. if nothing drastic happened its odd that a part would just break if you have been riding it and taking care of it. do you have any dents in your gas tank? rust can form on the inside and break off into the jets clogging them. when was the last time you did your valves? do you have good compression?

Well that explains the dying. And the petcock/float valves explains the gas in oil, making them separate issues.
soooo this guy was right too <----- |
