2005 250 NInja Petcock-Fuel Filter
Hi Guys,
My daughter rides 250 Ninja, and I am in a process of cleaning the tank and the carb system. I have found that one of the fuel filter attached to the petcock was ripped slightly. Does anyone know where to buy these small fuel filters? Thanks. |

Or you can remove all the stock fuel filters and replace with an aftermarket inline filter.

Thanks for all the sugesstions. I tried to buy the petcock fuel screen separately but could not find one. It will be a waste to buy a new petcock when original petcock is working perfectly well. I also saw the web which Winston has posted. I am thinking about doing that project also.

The petcock screens, not filters are unfortunately not sold separately from the petcock itself, your stuck buying a new one if you want them.
Your better off installing a real inline fuel filter, as the PreGen has none from Kawasaki. Any motorcycle shop carries them for a few bucks. Something similar to this

or unless you are expecting birds, boulders or small children through the fuel system...the final catch rail filter. The EX500 version 49019-1085 plugs right in snugly, fits perfect. I found the 250 version loose and floppy in the 250. Go figure.
Additionally...it *may* be possible, using the right adhesive, to install them as replacements on the petcock pickup tubes....the fine media is identical. IIRC someone on the 500 forum did precisely that long ago, possibly my brother.

It's not the Carb.
I thought it was the carb problem, so I rebuilt the carb and put an inline filter as per many suggestion. Also cleaned out the rusty tank with vinega and salt for 4 days. I put it all back together and turned the key, but the bike[Ninja 2005 250] would not start. You can hear the cranking noise and the battery is good [bought new last year]. I winterized over the winter, but last month it would not turn over. Any useful suggestions ???
Thanks. Michael. |

What do you mean by it will not turn over: the starter just clicks, or the engine is rotating but won't ignite? And is that today or last month?
