So Houston is shut down

Icy roads have shut down the town.

Gotta love living in a town that does not have the equipment to fight icy roads. No point investing in something that would only be used once every 5 years (maybe).

Still, the news channels are all over this "WINTER STORM". Meh. I guess since I used to ride a motorcycle in the winter back when I lived in Illinois, this seems like nothing.

I'd still ride my bicycle in this weather...but I did all my shopping yesterday. Nothing required today.

I did recently invest in a ski helmet. That is nice because it has less airflow and ear covers. Perfect for those chilly days. I'm eager to try it out.

I used to live in Houston and I don't ever remember snow or ice. Must be global warming.

Global warming would be great. Would bring my house closer to the beach and lessen the amount of land available therefore raising property values.

I'm located about 400 kilometers north of Oslo, Norway, Scandinavia.
Here, as well as many other places, we experience weather conditions that would be regarded very unusual, about 20-25 years ago. We had a nice trip, and saw about 5-6 other bikes along the road. Even a guy in a 40-45 year old Chevrolet Corvette waved his hand..
Normally I would not expect to be able to take the Ninja for a ride until late March, or April.

and here I am getting ready to ride through snow flurries with patches of ice on the road and maybe 1/2-1 inch piled up disguising the ice to go get some oil and brake fluid before work so I can change the fluids tomorrow.

seriously though, an inch and they shut down the motorway? even without snow plowing that's nothing to drive through.

Send some of that out here to California. It's been in the 70s, and we have yet to see any real rain this season.
