Insurance?
This may have been covered before but in case it wasn't....
Geico gives a discount for kawasaki motorcycles. I was going to trade my zx10r in because my insurance for 2 bikes (250r and zx10r) was 1500.00 a year. 188.00 per month. Crazy huh? I called around before I made a dreadful decision. Long story short, going from progressive 188.00/m to geico 97.00/m for exact same coverage. This is without msf or adding my cars. Just thought I'd share. |

Whaaat? Discount for kawasaki? Geico wanted over $2k for full coverage on my 250. I have no accidents or tickets. Progressive is about $600 for full coverage.

Most people I've talked to find Progressive to be much cheaper for bike insurance than other companies.

I have progressive, geico quotes were way way higher, I find it surprising you get it cheaper through geico.

It is always a good idea to check insurance rates every 6 months to a year. I have found that Insurance rates really can vary. You have to keep in mind the information that they use to calculate the rates and the fact that usually they policies are underwritten by a different group in each state. Based on things like age, area code, years of driving experience, driving record, credit score and many other factors each company may put a higher preference on a different item. From there it is a statistics game. Based on the information that they have gathered, how likely is it that an individual is going to have a claim, and how much money will they have to pay out for that claim.
When I was about 20, it was cheaper for my mom to insure me on her Miata then her. One would think that it would be more expensive to insure a young male on a 2 seat, convertible, roadster/sportscar. Although I am not certain why exactly this was the case, but whatever they were using in their statistics showed that I was less likely to have a claim against me in that vehicle than she would.
