Yamaha has just released this video giving the first official confirmation that a new R1 will be unveiled early next month.

The video, titled 'Nothing stays the same', shows the new bike being put through its paces on track, along with a few comments from Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi and four-times AMA superbike champion Josh Hayes.

In true teaser-video style, not much is given away in terms of specifications. Perhaps the most telling part of the video is the clip showing a full-colour digital dash with numerous acronyms denoting traction control, stability control, launch control, and 'LIF'.

It also shows what looks like a g-meter and optional riding modes, with one of the track riding shots revealing that the underseat exhaust from last year's R1 has been replaced with a belly-mounted unit.

The video description says: 'Everything has changed except the name. Designed with total freedom. Built for ultimate control.'
