Forged wheels design.

Hi guys, I'm planning on getting into the business of manufacturing forged wheels for lightweight motorcycles. I need your help to decide on the design I should go in for. The guys on the 390 forum I'm on feel I should stick with the stock 390 design, but since I'll only be making one design for all bikes, I would rather have a design everyone approves off. Here are the options : -

1) 5 V/Y design.

2) 5 Spoke Design

3) 6 Spoke Design

4) 7/multi spoke design

Hans what a great idea
I've voted for 6-Spoke (Honda)-Design, please make them in 3.50"-F and 4.50"-R and as light as possible.
Would be happy to buy a set

Cleaning complicated wheels is a PITA.

Fewer spokes, smoother curves (no nooks and crannies) is what would appeal to me.

I would look into doing semi-custom modular wire wheels for the cafe racer crowd. You can offer a base rim and hub that can be machined to fit bearings axles and offer spacers for fitment.

I personally like pretty simple wheels. I think I prefer 5-spoke over 6, though even the 7's can look ok.* I don't mind a bit of curve in the spokes, and like them to be at least swept a bit (most of the 5/6-spoke ones here are, and my VRossi's are). One thing I dislike about my VRossi wheels is that the front and rear have different amounts of sweep, because they seem to have used the same design strategy, but with hubs of different sizes. The rear seems much more swept than the front because the spokes are shorter.

I dislike the V/Y designs. I think they just come off as too cluttered and busy in most cases (though the thin V spokes can be fairly simple too). Meh, just not my thing.

My favorites of those pics are the OZ 5- and 6-spoke black ones, and the last 7-spoke ones (Marchesini?).

* Despite my general OCD for symmetry, I think I like odd-number spoked wheels because it makes me want to rotate the wheel to achieve symmetry. That obviously just moves the non-symmetry elsewhere, so I just want to keep rotating it. Odd = motion!

This:

always looks like this to me:

5 Spoke rims have a sweet spot in my heart, but those 10 Y spoke rims look sweet.

5 spoke design is the clear winner, On this forum AND on RC390-forum.com. Will pursue this design and give updates whenever possible.
