So I have a mini HD cam...

I was thinking of attaching it to my helmet via velcro.... Anyone have any better ideas?

Try one of these.
You can velcro them to the inside of your helmet in the center (above the middle of your eyebrows). You can velcro them anywhere on your bike without issue. I did this with my other bike and have a few angles covered for cheap!
