Hello everyone,

I found this forum for Ninja 250s after looking for one on the internet. I decided to join to learn more about my moto and contribute anything helpful.

A little about myself and my moto. I'm an expat American living in a South American country. I decided to purchase a motocycle to have more freedom than what taxis and buses were able to offer. It's been an interesting and educational experience for me to say the least in every step along the way. From deciding which motorcycle to buy, getting a driver's license to driving in a Kamikaze society along with the many road hazards one comes across!

Consider yourselves fortunate when it comes to what a Ninja 250R costs in the States. Where I live they charge a whopping $6500.00 for one! I wanted a black Ninja but all they had available at the time were the lime green special editions. I like the color now and wherever I go it's a head turner as bikes in this price range and above are not all that common.

I've made a few cosmetic changes to my moto such as tail and bungee hook removal and windscreen painted out but did make one improvement by purchasing radial tires. Mine came with the IRC and after driving 3000 miles on them decided that was enough. I thought it would be easy buying new tires but that too was a challenge. I finally found some Michelin Pilot Roads (the older first version) and upgraded to 120/70 in front and 150/70 in the rear. The rear tire barely fit with only a 1/8" clearance on each side. They also cost an arm and a leg. Over $400 for the set but I feel that the bike is much more stable as well as improving its look. I also purchased a tank bag and have the quick release SW-Motech pannier bags on order which will be arriving soon (has anyone used this system on their moto?).

I do some photography on the side so if there is an interest and a place for it on the forum I can do some trip reports. I'm planning on going to Ecuador and Peru on my Ninja which should be interesting.
