New in Knoxville
Hi all, I have ridden 750 cruiser for a little while, but decided to come to the dark side. I picked up an '09 250R SE. She handles beautifully and I can already tell this is going to be a blast!
The bike has a Jardine fender eliminator and Yoshi slip-on, but included the factory muffler If I want to try that, but the Yoshi isn't nearly as loud as I would have expected so I will likely stick with it. Here she is right before I bought her: I'm really not a fan of stickers (Monster/Yoshi) or decals on my vehicles so I removed them: |

Thanks guys!
With regard to the exhaust, I have what appears to be a silencer. It runs pretty far into the muffler, so I assume that keeps the dBs down a bit. This is the closest to a "good pic" I could get in my poorly lit garage. |

WELCOME!!!!!!!!
Enjoy the bike. Yeah that must be nice. You know what really sucks. Being in West TN. 430 miles from the tail of the dragon and other nice roads that way. |

Welcome, from Knoxville! I'm pretty sure I have seen you around town. There are a couple of black Ninjettes and from what I can tell only 1 green SE.

I have only been on the Ninja for 2 days, but maybe! I do love the curvy road that the foothills provide.

I'm looking forward to riding with all you local folks! I went out and grabbed all the stuff I need for my first bit of maintenance.
WD-40 & Original Bike Spirits Chain Lube for cleaning and lubing the chain. Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 (full synth) and WIX filter I will likely run seafoam through with this last bit of gas before my next fill-up for good measure. The PO did let it sit for a couple months without stabilizer during the winter. The "coldness" has gone away mostly, but I'd like to be sure. I have always used my parents' garage as my wife and I lived in an apartment, but now that I have my own I will get to do this all at home. A couple questions: 1) Is switching to full synthetic ill-advised at 2200 miles? I converted my car @ 5,000, but I am unsure about a motorcycle engine. 2) The chain should have 1-1.5" of play/slack, correct? 3) Does this stand appear to have the correct dimensions? I was spoiled with my Vulcan's center stand so I have never had to use a stand (set) like this. http://www.flyncycle.com/ProductDeta...3-BLK&CartID=1 Sorry for the possibly obvious questions but I was unable to find much information on these topics via search (and I did try, promise). ~Thanks again, Devin |

1) Switching at 2200 miles is just fine.
2) http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_do_...chain_slack%3F 3) The stand is adjustable so it should fit just fine. Just move the bars in or out according to the mounting point on the bike. My bike should be ready to go by the end of next week. Group ride! |

Cool, thanks for the info. I will send that link to myself, ninja250.org is blocked at work which may be why I never found that info.
I did a little more homework on stands others used and decided to go with a head lift stand for future wheel removal/fork maintainance. I also ordered some swingarm slider spools for this lift. http://mjmotogear.com/FRONT-HEAD-LIF...ET-COMBO-2.htm I could not find a concensus on wether or not I will have fairing clearence issues, but I believe they are in TN so if I have to ship it back no big deal. A group ride would be cool, I have only ever "cruised" with my dad. Thanks for the help! |

Yeah group ride! I would suggest if you knoxville guys want to jump over to www.easttnbikers.com and join, its a "small" group of local guys who ride and what not. Let me know and maybe I can make it! The 250 is still getting some work done, but I can take the zrx
CB, my gf rides a 250 as well, she would like to have another female to ride with. She has just started riding and likes it. |
