Birmingham, Alabama, January 19, 2018 – The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum takes first place as “Best Alabama Attraction” in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest. A panel of Alabama-based travel writers and photographers nominated the Barber Museum as one of their “favorite state attractions” last month. The announcement of the final ranking comes today, after four weeks of digital voting by the public.

“Our dream was to create the greatest collection of motorcycles in the world. Being named the best Alabama attraction was thrilling news, and we appreciate our fans for showing such overwhelming enthusiasm for our mission here in Birmingham,” said the museum’s executive director, Jeff Ray.

According to results published by USA TODAY 10Best, the top 10 favorite Alabama attractions rank as follows:

1. Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum
2. USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park
3. Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail
4. Bellingrath Gardens & Home
5. Alabama Shakespeare Festival
6. Dexter Parsonage Museum
7. Little River Canyon National Preserve
8. U.S. Space & Rocket Center
9. Alabama’s Gulf Coast
10. Vulcan Park & Museum

“What an honor it was to be nominated and win this award. When you consider just how spectacular all 10 of the state’s contenders are, it was truly a competition of favorites. We’re delighted,” said the museum’s founder, George Barber.
