Top Exhaust + Intake + Jet option
I notice most racers use area p ... I am assuming full area P + jet + k&n filter is one of the best options out there ... but I keep thinking the full Jardine system would be lighter overall... weight savings would probably trump the modest hp gains... basically what im asking is what is the best overall combo intake/exhaust for racing... and i apologize if this is a repost

It is.
Search on "jetting database" for a long thread that has a whole bunch of people's different jetting setups and how they worked out for them. For exhaust, a full system is the way to go, and people have gotten good results from Area P, Yoshi, Graves, and likely a few more. There isn't going to be a huge difference in power among any of the top brands. Dyno tuning the bike to make sure the jetting is spot on for the conditions will maximize the gains for that particular bike.

The backstraight at Road Atlanta tells me that Area P long pipe is the best choice.

I made 31 hp at sea level on a completely stock engine with 14k miles with just an air filter + jet kit + exhaust from Matt @ Sportisimoto and an hour of dyno time. I'm sure there's more to be had if you mill the head and change cam timing and such, but if you don't want to touch anything internally most combinations will get you above 30 hp which is enough to keep you in the game it seems in most production race classes.

The Leo Vince makes some of the best HP and doesn't hurt the bottom and mid range...just make sure to use the solid sound core...
Seen the system for about $400. Get a BMC filter and Dynojet Jet Kit...DONE! |
