Infrequent engine ticking at low rpm

The bike is very weak to start up and ticks. I start it with the choke on and leave it until the bike is warmed up. The ticking returns after turning the choke off and letting the rpm's fall. If I roll on the throttle too much the bike will stall. All issues seem to subside after the bike has been run for 10 minutes but the ticking will come and go. Does anybody have any idea what this could be?

Ticking starts at the beginning then subsides. It dies after I apply throttle. Bike was just started no choke.

First.. maybe check the oil level and I also noticed this not long ago and from what I gathered, it seems to be a common thing with this bike. Cam Chain tensioner is bit loose or something and needs bit of oil to be lubed when you first start the bike.

I don't think this is considered an issue.. but perhaps more experienced member can chime in on the topic.

Also measure your valve-clearances and post them here.

I think there are a few things going on.

As suggested, most likely a valve issue (can't tell, as the video has been removed) causing the ticking, but from the sound of it you may need some carb work and tuning as well. Cam chain tensioners can also cause some noise if they are not functioning properly.

You should be able to start it cold with moderate choke, then turn it off almost completely after a minute or so if it's tuned properly.

I'm guessing a valve adjustment and intense carb cleaning and adjusting are in order.

Check the easy stuff first.

1. oil level AND for contamination
2. check for exhaust leaks
3. clean your cam chain tensioner
4. really, really, really bad gas

Also, does it tick only when when in motion?

Other things that can make noise;

Engine mount bolts, brake pad slides, frozen chain links, valves, steering stems, levers ect... ect..

You also might want to just redo a 600m service on the bike and ensure all bolts are tight.

I hope it something simple, good luck!

Sounds like maybe perhaps cam-chain tensioner...
