Helmet Hook

Planning a trip this weekend and needed a way to keep the helmet with the bike with a little security. Found this product: The Helmet Hook: http://thehelmethook.com/ that provides a nice, not too costly solution. Can be used to hold the helmet while gassing, or using the custom lock, can keep the helmet from walking away. This is not high security, but rather a convenience.

Bought this from one of their distributors and the lock would not relock after the first opening. I contacted the maker directly from their website and he made everything right with no questions asked. I'm more than pleased with this product.

Thanks. And it adds a bit of weight/mass on the bar to reduce vibration.

Be careful someone doesn't come along and cut the strap and steal your helmet:

https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=233464

I take a helmet bag and carry my helmet or put it in my Givi case when I ride my ZX-6R or BWS50

I like this. I dont care about locking it, just a better place for the helmet. If i'm in a iffy place the helmet comes with me anyway.

Good find.

What's wrong with the helmet hooks under the seat?

Not easily accessible with the saddlebags.

I use a Master cable gun lock, about $10 from a lock or gun shop. It's plastic coated to avoid scratching. Hang the helmet on the passenger peg, thread it through the chin bar of your helmet and secure it to the peg bracket. The helmet can't be stolen by cutting the strap or D ring. Cheap, quick, easy, fits in your pocket. One big advantage, it puts the helmet low on the bike, and if you park facing in the right direction it gets the helmet out of the hot sun. Look at my profile pic for an example.

BTW: You can sometimes get these types of locks, but of lesser quality, free from local police or sheriff departments. A non-profit group called "Operation Child Safe" donates them to law enforcement agencies to give away.

Not to laugh at your misfortune, but I just busted out laughing reading your bug comment.

I've always wanted something different because my helmet wants to lay on the muffler. I'm afraid of melting trim or visor. Is this not a valid concern?

@dangerous340 A dual lock that bolts to you license bracket, called the Helmet Guardian, is available through Twisted Throttle. It's a little over 50 bucks. This would be especially handy to those who have luggage on their bikes which interferes with the factory under seat locks, or for those with older Ninjas that have the dual mufflers.

Mad for a 300 but it might fit a 250 too.
