This CAN'T be the right owners manual!

ok lets try this again. Ever write some long essay and have your cat stroll by and step on god know what key and wipe out the whole thing??

anyhow, The more I read thru this thing, the more I think either its wrong or the boys in Thailand had a liquid lunch when they wrote it. Nothing in it is accurate.
For example...

1 - Says it a 5-spd. Mines got six.
2 - Says it holds 5 gals. I can barely get half that in there
3 - Shows a rear rack. I have a tiny seat
4 - Shows a helmet lock. umm nope
5 - Shows a fuel shut-off lever, in plain sight
mines under the plastic, takes a coin to turn, and the settings
are 'ON, OFF, PRI' wtf does that mean? No reserve? It has
an actual fuel gauge on the instrument cluster. Its set on 'ON'
6 - The illustrations/locations for the filters are inaccurate

The title says its an EX250, the manual calls it a KLR650. Can manuals be ordered or FSMs downloaded anyplace?

Thanks in advance..

You have a KLR 650 manual.

You want
http://www.kawasaki-techinfo.net/sho...7&lang_code=EN

There is a helmet lock on the 250, lift the rear seat & hook one of the Double D rings around the hook

There's a downloadable link in this sticky thread at the top of the tech section:

Also, it IS a 4.8 gallon tank. If you are only getting around 2.5 gallons in it, then you are either: a) not running it even close to empty before refilling, b) refilling it on a serious angle and therefore not truly filling it, or c) both a & b. I suggest not trusting the fuel gauge since it's widely known to be about the least accurate fuel gauge ever created. Estimate around 45mpg to start off with times 4 gallons: 4x45=180, so you shouldn't be filling up until at least 180-190 miles on a tank. The reason I used those numbers was to be a little conservative and make sure you don't end up running out of gas before getting to a filling station.

Quick refueling tip: hold the nozzle up so it's just into the tank and fill by eye. Nozzles are designed to automatically shut off when fuel backs up an automotive filler tube, which bikes don't have. If you just insert the nozzle fully into the tank you'll be lucky to fill the tank half way before the auto shutoff trips.

I knew I found the right site. You guys are amazing. Well this I dont get bro..I was sitting on it when it sputtered out and died. MT tank. I went n filled up a 2.5gal can and almost got all in but no way. I was on a slight incline [driveway] at the time tho.

Well my friend who sold it to me wants to go for a cruise so I am just under 1/2 tank and I will fill up on level ground and 90° verticle and see how much I can get in. will let you know.

Also, like frugal said, keep the nozzle tip up near the opening of the tank. If you put the whole thing in the tank then you will never get more than half a tank full before it triggers the auto-shutoff for fueling.

Sho nuff guys. Did what you said and at just under half I was able to get almost 3 gals in.

This threads officially laid to rest. Got lots more questions to post tho.
Thanks for the feedback all
