If anything wouldnt that be a good thing? Id get a good laugh if someone thought my supergen250 was some ridiculous 1000cc bike and asked me to do a wheelie at like 100+MPH, id play along with it just to see how long i could fool them for and have a good laugh when im riding away :P. Not to mention people who want a 250 (like myself) with the look of a bigger, beefier, badass looking bike.

People (non MC riders) already do that with the newgen

Ehh guess that doesnt suprise me too much. Just yesterday i went past a group of kids who flagged me down later on in the day and asked me about my black 250 (2012 with stock everything, including the yellow stickers) and they actually thought it was something bigger. They really wanted me to do wheelies on it and i was like naaa im breaking in the engine. One of the kids thought it was as big as his brothers yamaha R1 lol.

Not quite as big as a R1 haha.

I own a 09 and love the new look, I just wanted more in terms of the important bits being changed.

Now back to the important stuff, nobody cares about looks.. well i dont anyway.

@taufik-tmcblog have you seen this bike or are you just taking pics from elsewhere?
Can you tell us any of the following-

Fork diameter?
Any adjustable rebound and compression damping at either end?
Rear rim size?

Retro fitting the guage will not be plug and play and may not even be possible

I can still hope and dream damnit! I plan on getting the 13 zx-6r if they do an overhaul this year anyway. If they dont do an overhaul I'll just pickup a leftover 12 on the cheap instead. Still debating on whether or not to trade in the 250 or keep it as a track bike though.

Woah. Hold on a sec.

When they came out in 1988, they were very similar to the then stylish ninja 600r. Go look at pictures and you'll see that they're nearly identical. In fact, the 88-07 250 would fool just about anyone at a glance, myself included, that it was a 600. Its very similar to what Kawasaki is doing with the 08-12 model and the 13+ model. they just missed a ticket to the cosmetic remodeling train once in the middle around 2000 when they started with the more modern looking ZX6R.

As for disgusting, yes the classic 250 is a little dated, but not disgusting. If you've ever actually seen one from an angle at the back, they have all the classic lines of a sport bike; same with the view from directly to the side. The front is just a little dated because of the headlight and main fairing. Ugly, from some angles. Dated, yes. Classic, yes. Disgusting? That's your opinion, but remember that mine's faster

I agree,
My order of purchase is
Newgen
Super gen
Pregen
Cb350
Cbr 250
Scooter
eta: hyosung 250

Its not that the cbr is a bad bike.
It just doesn't offer enough avenues for tinkering.

For example i could get an old gen for $1300 and get a ecotrons kit.
And it would out perform the cbr every way.

Well my plan is to get a 2013 and find out.'

Will be keeping the cbr as its only ridden on the track anyway.
I did do 5000 road km on it last year and cant fault it, it uses its very little amount of power well, handles rock solid and was far more surprising than its pricetag suggested.
Just added fuel and BT003's and its done 500+ laps this year.

I'll be able to give a good comparison in about 6months.
My mind is open.
many young riders say their Hyosung/ninjette/cbr/first bike is the most awesomest thing.
That is normal.

Track cbr, solid dude!

yeah we've all got a little bias But this isn't the only bike I've ridden long-term. Its just the one that best suits my needs. Yes it was my first bike, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Hyosungs suck idgaf what people who ride them say. I don't have any urge to test ride one either. I still read about shoddy build quality, and that's important to me.

In Australia the cbr is biggest selling roadbike bike by far this year (and last), and in that time theyve dropped the Ninja price from a rediculous $7950 out the door to its current $5800 OTD price.

Thats just one market, its done the same in Asia and Europe.
I think its good that kawasaki has dropped this bomshell quickly and quietly in order to compete, they had it good for 20 years with no competition.
Yamaha will follow suit but problem is it looks like it will come from india.. so a NO from me.
many ppl like 250's not just new riders, there is old riders returning and those like me that like small bikes.

The hyosungs didn't get good reviews...
They were an option when i was first looking at purchasing but when i looked at a new one it was rusting already. It being weak and heavy made my decision not to get it an easy one.

I really looked at the cbr due to the fuel injection, and the fact that i like the honda brand.
I have had great experience with their lawnmovers, cars, generators and power washer.
I did research on forums and found they had issues with the first run,and decided to wait a couple of years.
The style of the bike didn't make me want to throw down a check either.

I chose the ninja because of power, styling and parts availability.
In short the only real bias i had when i made my decision is logic.

First off, I never said your opinion was wrong. I hate when people try pulling that card. You started off with this:

You then brought up other details of the bike that you didn't like using information that was wrong. It was the information you were stating as the source of your dislike that I was disagreeing with.

In every post I only pointed out things you either ignored, or information that was told to you that was wrong (pricing). I also explained why they won't do a more supersport style riding position, along with why you can expect more bikes to have ABS in the future. So please show me where I said your opinion was "wrong" cause I'm dying to know.

Just for the record, the second gen bike is what others call the pre-gen. The 2008-2012 is actually the 4th gen of Ninja 250 (not including the ZX-2R with it's 250cc I4 engine that shares nothing with this line).

Hilarious that people are knocking a bike that isn't even in showrooms yet! C'mon guys, how can you say it's ugly? Granted style is ALWAYS one's opinion but I think they're a bunch of butt hurt, envious people out there. I believe they raised low and midrange power on the 2013 Ninja to compete with the Honda CBR250R's low end grunt that it possesses due to it's single cylinder. As far as the new Ninja 250R gaining weight-sure I'll agree with that but look at the size of the stock exhaust cover.. Losing weight on this new 2013 model is going to be easy. I'm all for making bikes faster but I honestly am already in love with this bike and probably will not modify mine much once I buy it. I have been losing sleep over trying to decide what paint scheme I want. I decided on the Special Edition Grey, and if it is not offered in USA then I will opt for the Special Edition Lime Green/Ebony. Opinions? Mods will def. be a small full carbon exhaust (anything that doesn't look like a prosthetic leg), some sticky tires and that sexy double bubble windscreen and seat cowl cover Kawasaki's offering. Maybe an ECU tuner.

So by not modify much you mean spend close to $1000 on mods??? lol

And if you put a full exhaust on retuning the ECU will be required

I'm digging the Passion Red / Stardust White paint scheme, I'll be gunning for that I'm thinking.

Its Fischer price dash is gone, it finally has a teeny bit of Torque, it looks ok for a kawasaki, that feminine headlight is gone, the frame is stiffer, the motor has moved out of the dark ages and has fuel injection.

Its a good thing and I dont understand why ArchaicGen Ninja owners bag it out before even riding one.

I like analog dashes alot. I like the dash on my 250 better than the one on my 1000.

While it may have a small amount more power in the lower revs its not going to be anything life changing and in doing so they actually lowered the max torque of the bike as well as the max rpms.

Oh boy fuel injection! Fuel injection on a bike that nearly every owner makes mods to, uh oh. Slip on, full exhaust, or intake mods? Hope you have the extra cash for a power commander so you don't burn up your engine.

And feminine headlight... Really?
