Kickstand Indicator

I've heard read of a number of good riders dropping their bikes because they left their kickstand down. I'm not sure that all bikes have the safety interlock but I don't get why nobody ever thought to just run a bulb from the kickstand switch to indicate when it is down..... May or may not be ambitious enough to do this one.

rationale for kickstand switch

The kickstand switch is there to drive the interlock circuitry. If there's no interlock preventing riding with the kickstand down, there's no switch to drive the bulb.

Ok, well same principle only minus when there is an interlock present.

I think there should be a bulb for the kickstand's status....

The interlock is a requirement for a production streetbike, at least here in the US. The only bikes that don't have it are ones that have been either intentionally or unintentionally disabled.

Get rid of the side kickstand and use the central one, .............there is no way to run away with that one down ..........

The problem with your idea is that when the side kickstand is down the safety switch, which is a single pole, single throw (SPST), opens.

You will need to replace the micro switch by a single pole, double throw (SPDT).

Otherwise, your light would indicate when the stand is up (green light to go?).

Lol green light go indeed.

I actually deleted my kickstand interlock because the plug got bent and it would stay stuck inside the housing forcing me to pull it out with pliers with bike's kickstand up.

I think it's a good idea might even be a money maker....? They sell gear indicators why not a kickstand indicator.
