Parking lot cone day? - SOCAL

trying to gauge interest in finding a large park and ride or private lot with permission and setting up some cones to do some lowspeed skills building... i know we have a few timid riders in the area... perfect chance to get more comfortable with your ride in a comfortable and relatively safe (not to mention free) situation! lets get some moto gymkhana going!

anyone know of a good parking lot thats big enough to set up a large course? is the dmv gonna have people there/around?

the sdsb group is meeting at 35185 Briggs Road Murrieta, CA 92563. its a school parking lot. looks pretty large and supposedly completely deserted on weekends.

and when do we want to make this for? apr 30th? may 7th?

are you planning this with or without the land owners permission/consent? most will deny you access due to liability reasons if you ask, unless you get really lucky.

if you don't ask, be ready for some hassles if the group gets too big. Unless the location selected is really deserted where no one can see you guys, I think you'll be in for some disappointments.

ahh the age-old problem of other people. i've had to deal with them since i was a wee lad on my first 30cc 2-stroke. bribing the land owner with beer/food/amusement usually works. but yes i am planning on getting permission.
if mine and dustin's bikes weren't so flippin loud i could suggest about a dozen parking lots big enough that i could get personal permission from the land owner for... but not for loud bikes! (other offices in the area that work on the weekend- they might get disturbed blah blah) *fist shake towards yoshimura pipe*

put the stock can back on for the day?

I know when I approached the county government here to set up an autocross track in a parking lot at the county stadium (same place as the DMV uses for their MC tests), they were not cooperative in the least, due to liability issues. I would suspect you would have the same problem with private owners as well once you actually ask them for permission.

Wish you the best, though... it would be fun to have a bunch of friends trying to get the best time of the day running an identical course. You will all need to agree to accept full liability for your own actions and not end up trying to sue the land owners should something go wrong.

I guess it all boils down to whether or not it's allowable. The 30th is no good for me... even though I already did the SD ticket to ride... I want to do the LA ticket to ride... gotta ride the ZX-14 and also want to ride the ZX-10R again!!!! I love that bike!!!
