I hate being a stupid person

So I got a Yoshi TRS Slip On for my ninjette. Didn't realize until after I got it that it's not actually street legal. Careless I am. I decided to put it on anyway. What about it makes it only allowed on a "closed course? Volume and emissions? Doesn't seem THAT loud. Anybody ride around the street with a "race" exhaust?

lol, that's what you get for living in a state full of hippies. I ride on the street with a race exhaust every day.

Still rocking a stock exhaust on mine but to answer the other question - plenty of not "CA street legal" exhausts to be found on bikes...plenty. Noise emissions are one - CARB certification are the other I believe. Not sure how rigorously policed the subject matter is - if anything, annoyed neighbors? Oh and avoid the city of Novato.

Tons of people ride with them, but expect to get ticketed for it if you're pulled over even for something else, and everyone with legal pipes will think you're a dick.

Aftermarket exhausts are almost always "for closed course use only." I'm pretty sure they put that label on it as a cover your ass thing, not because anyone actually gives a **** lol. It's a CA emissions things. It's why no Two Bros exhausts can legally be sold to anywhere in CA anymore. It's why any bike manufactured in 2013 and onward can't legally change the exhaust at all.

I wouldn't expect one to get ticketed though unless you're being jerk to begin with.

While yeah, the label comes from CARB, a slip-on won't emit any more pollution than a stock can. Think about it for a sec. It's just a pipe.

Catalytic converters are another issue.

It's about the noise....

Samething goes fot the jet kit... Not legal for street use...

That's why I went with the Area P quiet system, it might not be "legal for street use", but the dB it puts out are lower than our new enforced laws up here in la belle Province de Québec... I won't be afraid to go through the soundmeter test...

So, you're not that stupid of a person...

That doesn't make you a stupid person.

EPA has only been concerned with the chemicals coming out of our exhausts:
http://www.epa.gov/otaq/regs/roadbike/420f03045.pdf

For noise restrictions, check your local traffic laws.

Okay, sounds good. I'm not a douche with the noise, no pointless engine revving or anything like that. And around my neighborhood, I throw it into a high gear and keep the RPMs really low (~3 or 4k). So it seems like I should be good.

In Massachusetts a biker was ticketed for a noise complaint but it was decided that if the officer can't prove the exhaust has been modified or had the baffle removed, then no action could be taken.

anyone next to you will care if you run a straight pipe. instead of spending money on bling, spend money going to the track. it saves more lives than loud exhausts do.

I had a crappy delkevic shorty can on my 250 when I bought it and it was a lot louder than my unbaffled leo Vince pipe on my 600.

250s can be really loud.

According to Area-P my exhaust makes 102db at 5k rpm, sooo yeah. Some call it noise pollution, but I just call it awesome.

Ok, I'll leave it then . Although it sounds kind of strange, but I'll assume that's because I didn't choose to spend the extra $$ on the carbon fiber model.

Aaaand by "straight pipe", I assume that means the naked exhaust with no can on it, yes? Sounds like a tuba

CARB is such BS. It's a money thing, simple as that. Companies can pay "CARB" to become CARB legal and it's one more thing for CA to charge people for.

My buddy had an exhaust/intake system on his Integra (not super ricey, just a small mod) and he got a ticket, had to take it to a referee after removing it. Turns out that his emissions were a good 15-20% HIGHER after putting the stock system back on. You tell me how that makes any sense?

All I know, is that the only bikes I could run at laguna are the ninjette and the Ex 500. Needless to say, they do not have my wallet control. Yes, stock exhaust systems on both. Not that I am going to laguna raceway. They can go F themselves and keep on taxing the neighbors that complain about the noise.
