Bike out of Storage!
hi guys!
Great forum, i am so glad i found it. i just returned from an overseas assignment. My bike had been sitting for the last 6 months, with very little gas in it with a battery tender. ( i know i should not have done it but i was an ignorant fool). today when i tried to fire it up it would not start without choke. After trying for almost 30-40 times i was finally able to get it going and took it around town for 20 min or so. it seems ok now. Starts right up. I would like to know if by doing so did i damage it in any way or not! shoud it be fine now or must i took it for a service ...if yes service what! i am a newb! know nothing about bikes.. please advise! |

I just got scared whe i read this !
" The first sign that the carbs are gummed up with old fuel is when the bike will only run on choke at small throttle openings - even when the engine is hot. This symptom indicates that the primary jets are blocked. Diagnosing carburetor problems is relatively straightforward but problems can be time consuming and/or expensive to repair." the bike did exactly the same for at least 30 minutes before it finally came to life! |
