Install fan for CDI cooling

It has been in the tripple digits temp lately so I am thinking of putting a computer fan on top of the cdi to help cool it down a little. Not going to solve the problem but helps right?

What do you think? Should I waste my time and install one?

I wouldn't waste the time doing it. You wouldn't gain anything from doing it since the CDI is enclosed unlike with computers where the fan is actually built into the unti. Now if you really want to be fancy you would make a bigger case for the CDI and remove the outer plastic. Then if you put a fan or two in and never road in the rain you'd probably be sitting pretty. Just be ready for plenty of cursing and a headache.

Total and complete waste of time. No where to draw cool air from and no where to exhaust heated air too, and minimal space to flow air around.

Only way it would work would be to cut two holes in your bike for intake and exhaust.

relocate it where air flows. That alone will greatly help.

Exactly what I was going to say. As I stated in the other thread, I was considering a ram air like duct on the right of the bike with exhaust holes just beneath or slightly in front of the tail/break light. If the air box is removed, this would make the intake duct work even easier.

Probably more hassle than it's worth.

Heat sink may work. Passive cooling without a fan and just a heat sink will keep it cooler.
