Projector Headlights
So I've been looking at 35w Hi/Lo HID systems for my bike. The more I read about HID lights, the more I read that an HID bulb doesn't work right in a normal housing because it gives off tons of glare and can blind people. Not good in my books. Neither is putting and HID bulb in my headlight and taping off the outside. That looks bad in my opinion. I like my bike to look relatively stock and not like it has been thrown together by a teenager (which I am, but that doesn't mean that I want someone to immediately be able to tell that just by looking at my bike.) I don't do a half @$$ed job on my bike.
Because of this, I've been looking at projectors to put an HID bulb behind. I've looked online and the only thing that I can find that is a 35w Hi/Lo HID projector is this; http://www.carpartslights.com/bixeno...5a09gei30enfg0 and then I watched all 4 parts to this video to see how I would go about installing a projector into my headlight housing; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imIig..._order&list=UL My question is, does anyone have experience modding their headlight housing to hold a projector headlight? Also, any other products like in the link above that I can use that anyone has experience with? thanks for the help. This is really just an idea at the moment. If this turns out to be too much I won't do it |

...or would something like this be better? I'll still have to buy the kit from ddm tuning, but I'm not looking for the halo like with the the product in the original post

it's the same process for 99% of headlight housings.
the two hard parts: - not bending the lip of the headlamp housing while prying the two pieces apart - making a bezel or skin to hide the back of of the headlamp housing after you remove the reflector. for this, vacuformed abs to the inside is the easiest way to go... i've seen people use other methods and even seen someone foam then glass and bondo but for the time, effort, and end results, vacuformed plastic is the way to go

I'm not sure about the pre Gen headlights, but the newgen lens and housing are sealed together with an RTV silicone of sorts which makes the disassembly process a major pain. I mangled the hell out of mine taking it apart, but I am satisfied with the light as a result. I skimped and only put one bixenon projector in and left the halogen high beam.

after more looking, I think this kit is the way to go. It's got everything, including the projector, and its intended for a motorcycle and doesn't stick me with a second unit that i wont need
