Very cool pics!

How much weight can you carry in that box?

I think I have the same box, but I needed to weld a bracket on to get enough support:

On the other hand, I have been known to exceed the recommend carrying weight...yeah, there were logs inside the box, too.

Edit: That's aluminum? It doesn't flex and vibrate and bend at all when riding with groceries?

It doesn't flex or vibrate, but I never put too much stuff in it. The box itself is huge, so the temptation is always there to overload, but given it's location at the very tip of the tail I've never put more than 10lb in the box.

I don't think I'd ever be able to restrain myself to 10lbs...
Of course...well...

Also, given how ...adventurous.. some of my motorcycle trips have been, I figured it's a good idea to make sure I can always fit at least one dead hooker in the trunk.

Uh...anyway, tell us more about the Hornet! Was it on display, or what's the deal with it?

Nice adventure!

The Hornet is a retired aircraft carrier (now a museum) that is docked at Alameda Point, where there used to be a Navy Base.
