Join the AMA and receive a $10 gift card

If you're one of the first 25,000 to join the AMA at $39/yr and choose automatic renewal, you will receive the gift card. It can be used at BikeBandit.com. The nice thing about the AMA membership, is it provides roadside assistance, etc. for all of your vehicles, not just your bike.

I don't see anything about the gift card. Do you have a link?

I should have mentioned in my post. It is an unadvertised bonus, i.e. I received a letter stating since I was one of the first 25,000, please accept this $10 gift card....

Hey Sam, what do you think about the AMA roadside assistance so far? I have AAA and have been thinking about switching to AMA. The price difference is HUGE (over $100 for my car, my wife's car, and my bike versus $39 at AMA). But I'm concerned about AMA's roadside assistance coverage: will it be any good?

Does anyone else have any experience with AMA? Thanks!

I've been a life member for 26 years, a member for 43 years. This is the first I've heard about the roadside assistance.

Thanks!

My only experience with the AMA is you had to join to race and you get a magazine once a month. I thought it was worth it.

Hmmm, well glad I could help. After all, I heard about it on this forum myself! And the price is right for the roadside assistance -- FREE!

I hope there's still not a requirement to join a race though. I don't know if I'm up for it.

You have the race part backwards. You have to join to race, not race to join.

Might be better than my AAA membership:

With AMA Roadside Assistance, you get:

Coverage for bikes, cars, pickups, motorhomes and trailers registered to you, your spouse, and dependent children under the age of 24, living at home or away at college.
Coverage in all 50 states, plus Puerto Rico and Canada.
Towing up to 35 miles.
All dispatch and hook-up fees.
Flat tire assistance.
Mechanical first aid: minor adjustments (excluding parts) to repair the vehicle.
Emergency fuel delivery.
Wheel and tire road hazard coverage for the member's vehicles, including trailers.
No exclusions for older motorcycles.
Up to five dispatched service calls per year.
Towing a disabled motorcycle or other vehicle to a shop or the member's home.
Emergency Trip Interruption Service: Up to $100 a day for three days ($300) in reimbursement for meals and lodging if a member's car or motorcycle is disabled in an accident, and/or while the member's vehicle is being repaired far from home.
Toll-free assistance available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from two national call centers.
AMA Roadside Assistance pays first. No need to pay and wait for reimbursement.
Free trip-routing service.
Free limited legal services.
Free online rewards mall.

Greg, I did compare those features and it looks like a great deal. Just for comparison for those who are interested, here is the comparable rundown of the AAA "Premium Plus RV" coverage for a couple (only differences shown):

AAA Premium Plus RV for a couple is $121/year [AMA free]
Coverage for bikes, cars, RVs registered to you or your spouse [AMA for all family members]
Coverage in all 50 states [AMA includes Puerto Rico & Canada]
Towing up to 100 miles, upto 4 times per year [AMA 35 miles]
Locksmith services upto $100 [AMA none?]
Trip Interruption reimbursement upto $1000 [AMA $300]
Legal fee reimbursement upto $1500 [not sure how much AMA gives]
Free trip routes, guidebooks, and maps [AMA less features]
Hotel/rental car discounts (but you can usually get better deals online) [AMA none]
$300,000 travel accident insurance [AMA none]
Use AAA card as bond card instead of license [AMA no]

So it seems AAA has some advantages. It's a premier service for a premier price. I guess it just depends whether it's worth $120 per year for those advantages. I'm thinking I'll go with AMA and keep a single basic AAA membership ($56/year) for my wife for one year just in case.

funny when i renewed my aaa this year i asked about bikes and they said no. I will call them again, maybe it varies by region?

i have progressive insurance - will look into that again for less than $1 a month.

roadside assistance aside, the AMA is a great organization though I haven't been a member in years as I don't race mx anymore, but i should get a membership restarted as it does good for the motorcycle community.

ok so i called aaa southern new england and they do NOT cover motorcycle towing or fuel etc (though don't see why they don't do fuel or air).

also progressive only tows 15 miles than its the local tow truck company's per mile rate.
