250 size compared to 600's

my wife and a buddy of mine had setup a ride for yesterday morning he rides an older fzr 600 when he pulled in i was a bit taken back by how close they are in size

I knew that the ninja's physical size was pretty up there but it really surprised the hell out of me to see it was bigger than the fzr length, height everything was slightly larger with the exception of seat height they were almost identical

So it left me wondering what other bikes that share almost the same physical size as the 250

All modern 600's will be pretty similar. 90's race bike will feel definitly bigger.

The Ninja 500 is very similar in size.

yup, 250r and new zx6 are nearly have nearly identical dimensions.

Height and wheelbase can be the same, but if the triangle of seat, bars, and pegs are different the bikes will feel different.

I believe the new CBR600RR actually has a shorter wheelbase than the 250. 600's "look" so much bigger though.

Definitely wider with the inline 4.

I noticed this with my husbands 2009 gsxr750 it's really close to the same in length and height, but like said above his is definitely wider. I'll probably move up to a 600cc next spring we'll see though!!

i find that all other brand bikes look similar in size to the 250r, but the 2008 zr-6r looks humongous compared to the 250r.

I had the opposite reaction when I worked with a guy that had an 08 ZX6R, it seemed much bigger than mine when parked side by side.

*short person complaint* If most dimensions are so similar, why does nobody make a 600cc bike with the same seat height as the 250?

I think the super-sport bikes have higher seat heights to give a more aggressive seat position which is more leaned forward and more weight on the front wheel. The higher seat height just goes with the territory. There are non super-sport 600s that have a more upright, less aggressive seat position. I'm not sure how much lower the seat is though.

Higher seat also allows higher pegs/greater ground clearance when turning.

I had a Ninja 500 (actually an EX500… same thing) a while back and recently sat on one for old times' sake. It felt really odd and much larger than I remembered.

Ergos are everything when it comes to perceived size.
