Ninja into cafe/brat Project...

I ride a Kawasaki KZ900, and for the type of riding I mostly do, it is a very heavy bike. Plus, I foresee travelling with the SO, and would like to drive a bike up into the pickup easily. The KZ is just not that kind of bike.
Enter the Ninja 250.
Here is the first bike, a 1990 model that I picked up for a song:

I also picked up a '99 250, hope to get both running and sell one come springtime.

I have had a cafe style tank just looking for a project like this, so I think I will be using this as my starting point:

First order of business will be to get this bike up and running after 18 months in a shed....then a seat system, gauges and a headlight

The tank is a Benelli Mojave, readily available from Ebay, the seat was from www.Hotwingglass.com

well, rebuilt the carbs, she runs nice and smooth, no funny noises anywhere, so it's time to take this thing down to Moto Motivo and Johann, who builds some of the wildest 2 wheeled creations east of the Mississippi, for a little fabrication work. He will probably advise me to lose that seat if going with that tank.

This will be a minor job for him, this is the kind of thing he would probably rather be doing:

and..

Had a design setback:
The Benelli tank isn't going to work and look right at the same time...oh well.

Back to square one. Now we're looking at making an '80's vintage race bike homage. I'm trying my best to keep this from looking like just another cafe bike look-a-like.
