Twist the Throttle is a pretty interesting series. They'll certainly show it again if you miss it this time - my DVR's already picked it up 3 times in the past week.

Was interesting to see that the 600 was nearly the same weight as the 250.

Yeah I've seen all of these (Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Ducati, BMW). They're on every Monday on HD Theater (Discovery Theater).

the internet episodes are basically the same ones as those on discovery hd, but the ones on tv are about 50% longer or so. still, better than nothing.

Finally got to see the whole episode.

I really enjoyed two little factoids:

- Kawi USA came up with the name "Ninja." The parent company was still calling its bikes unimaginative things like "Z-1."

- Kawi Green came about as a way to psych out the competition on the track. Apparently there's a superstition that green is an unlucky color on the racetrack (never heard that one before), so Kawasaki very consciously decided to use it, as a statement that they believed in engineering, not superstition.

It's nine parts yellow to one part blue. (No further info on that, like exactly what shade of yellow or blue is used.)

I also liked the nerdy engineer who was talking about the acceleration of the ZX-14 (0-60 in considerably less than 3 seconds):

"It's like you leave your brain at the starting line...."
