Shimming the needles question

Does shimming the needles work the same as having a jet kit with the needle and the clip? If so, how many washers would equal one position on the adjustable needle?

yes, it's the same as raising the needle.

approx. 2 washers= one clip position.

You can certainly PM me, but I like it better this way as the info is here for all to see and if someone has a differing opinion they can join in.

just leave the stock 98 in there. that way you don't have to touch the main jet at all. it works well as it's rich from the factory as delivered.

I believe so... try using 3 shims in each needle as a starting point and adjust as needed. be sure to use 3mm washers.

and then replace the air filter with K&N which i already did... so with the "right" tweaks how many washers should i get?

which is it... remove only the snorkel or the airbox? each requires different jetting approaches.

depends on what you want to achieve and how much work you're willing into pulling the airbox and into rejetting the bike.
