Husqvarna announced the 701 Supermoto will finally go on sale in the U.S. in February 2016. European customers will get earlier access to the big Single in November, but considering Husqvarna first revealed the bike at EICMA last fall, what’s another couple of months?

The 701 Supermoto is powered by 690cc SOHC Single inherited from Husqvarna’s parent company, KTM. Husqvarna claims a maximum output of 65.7 hp at 7000 rpm and 49.4 lb-ft. at 6500 rpm from the engine. The 701 uses ride-by-wire throttle control with three selectable engine maps. The engine is mounted in a chromium-molybdenum steel trellis frame. Also mounted to the frame is a polyamide subframe with an integrated 3.4-gallon fuel tank weighing just 11.5 pounds.

As with most KTM models, the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto uses WP suspension components. The separate function fork dedicates the left leg to compression damping while the right fork leg handles rebound damping. The WP rear shock offers rebound damping adjustment and high- and low-compression damping adjustment. The front fork offers 8.5 inches of travel while the rear shock offers 9.8 inches while ground clearance is listed at 10.6 inches.



Brembo supplies the four-piston radially-mounted caliper and single-piston rear caliper. A Bosch 9M+ ABS is offered as standard, with a specially-tuned offroad mode (ABS can be turned off as well).

Other features include a slipper clutch, 17-inch wheels with Continental ContiAttack Supermoto wheels, hand guards and a claimed 319-pound weight (sans fuel). Pricing remains to be determined.
