Brake Light Always On

Hey all,

Looking for a little advice for a problem with my 2009 that I noticed this evening. It looks as though my brake light is constantly on. The previous owner had a flashing brake light installed (blinks 5 times, then goes solid). I have had the bike for a little over 100 miles and have not noticed any issues with the brake light prior to tonight. About two weeks ago, I took the bike into the shop to make sure everything is in proper working order and had the brake fluids flushed.

When I first turn the key, the rear light flashes and then stays solid as if I have applied the brakes. If I apply the front or rear brakes, there is no change in the intensity of the light. I have read that it may be the rear brake pedal switch, however I am not sure how you adjust this.

Thanks for the help!

Try ruling things out.

First thing I would do is take the flasher out of the circuit and see if the problem still occurs.

disconnect the rear brake pedal switch and see if the light goes out.

Thanks everyone! The brake switch "screw" was barely threaded in. I assume this happened after they changed the brake fluids a few weeks ago. Regardless, it is fixed!
