Rear Axle Nut

anyone know the size of the socket needed to remove the rear axel nut?

From KKIM's DIY on chain adjustment:
Then using a 24mm socket and a breaker bar on the nut and a 17mm wrench on the other end...

Or if you still have the toolkit, it'll have the proper size wrench and an extension bar for it.

Which method are you planning to use to check the alignment? Here's the DIY thread that has some decent info in it for our bikes.

The string method is very good, i followed that DIY and it was actually really simple. It might look confusing by just reading it but don't be discouraged.

I wouldn't do it again though, too much time involved especially if you're gonna do it every time you take the rear wheel off. After i aligned with the string i counted the threads and they were the same. So aligning by counting the leftover threads on the adjuster bolt is very sufficient.

well the main reason y i was just going to use the marks is cause i know my front wheel is off...i have to wait till i get some bolts that i stripped the heads off of back before i take them off and redo the front wheel...i just wanted to get the back done and i think it should be any trouble since the factory marks are there.

Those factory marks are useless; they are highly inaccurate. Make sure that the number of threads showing on both of the adjustment bolts at the back of the swingarm, and your alignment is pretty darned close.

In it, I get my ass handed to me, but more importantly it goes over all the points Alex made about the hash marks on the side of the swingarm adjuster plates being useless and the correct method to insure the rear wheel is correctly aligned.
