Talking Noob 08R 250 Racer from So. Ca.

Hey all,
New here but not new to forums. I haven't browsed much here but plan on it.

I picked up an 08R that's in race only trim (prolly a member on this site). Plan on poaching some of the members here over the new few rounds at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway!

I found the site while googling "jetting options" for my bike.
What do ya'll think would be the best main jets to go with at 0-750ft elevation racing based on the bikes specs? The jetting "section/thread" seems to be all over the board (even at sea level).

Was asking price and I didn't haggle. I felt that with the rear shock being 1/3 of the cost, It would be a douche move to try and get it any lower.
Besides, it was a fellow club racers bike and think it was priced accordingly.

I had 195 Ntecs on the Duc in that pic. Hopefully I don't lean myself into a slide on the Ninja with its Pizza cutters

I thought about it until I saw the weather report. lol
I'll be there the next three rounds though.
Anyone racing there, come say hi. Along with pitting next to Nem, I also do all the tech inspection for CVMA

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The guy is one of the slowest racers I know.

Hey Nem, Niccole said the tires are 2 years old and the older "stickier" Bridgestones (whatever that means).
She said they no longer make em and people are running the BT003's now.

I know you're a tight wad, would you still run these tires? They look friggin GREAT still. I can't remember the last time 2 year old race tires looked this good! haha

I know what Tige would say, but what would u say? Practice on em Friday and change em out for the races?

If he says yes, are you going to use them or try to sell them to him?

I think she's referring to the BT090s which they don't make anymore. I owned a set and they worn down really fast. I did about 3 trackdays and they were already down to the wear bar. I don't think the 2yr old tires will make a difference, and think you're good to go.

Try them out during practice.

Yes, correct. BT090's.
They still look decent, I'll prolly run em Fri like you said.

Unless you wanna buy em just to piss off Tige? haha

Tige will let me run B-Stones but nothing else.

And no I don't need another set of tires as the one I have only had 3 laps on them before I crashed. LOL!

Whoa there, now hold up. So in order to race in CVMA, I'm going to have to contend with Steve, Jonathan, and now Xtian too? Maybe I should go set up to be a backmarker for WSMC instead T_T

On a side note, I expect double the pathetic and rudeness from here on.

ahhh... don't fret my pet, my heart and wallet is still in the Formula Twins class.

Since we only get 20 minutes for qualifying, I and won't be qualifying the Ninja as well as the SV (just not enough time to get comfy and throw down enough laps in 20 minutes).

I plan on qualifying the SV only and starting back of the pack with the Ninja250. Not looking to take anyone's championship points, just some of the individual race hardware
I "hear" chicks did doods with plastic $5 trophies.

Who knows, if I really enjoy the 250 racing (budget and competition) I just might make a switch over full time next season

Honestly Tiff racing with faster guys will make you a better rider/racer. You'll quickly realize, "Shoot, I can take the corner just as fast as him...Oh look, I'm gaining on him!"

Seriously, you want faster guys racing with you so have a goal to shoot for, if not learn from.

I know. I'm just hoping to not get lapped by TOO much of the grid in my first race I gotta defend my not yet existant reputation, you see. I suppose one more crazy fast, fearless guy won't hurt too badly. Sort of. I GUESS.

As a chick, I can confirm this to be 100% true. Nothing beats a big, sexy.... plastic trophy

Haha, that's actually really cool, though. Since I won't be running in A group anytime soon, it'll be awesome actually getting to ride with you. Although don't think for a second that just because your lurking in the back of the grid you'll get to beat me to a holeshot. I'll be building a monopoly on those

Thanks peeps!
The first outing on the 250 last sat with Nem was really fun.
ALLLLLLL about corner speed.
Crazy trying to change my mindset and just keeping it pinned in 6th gear the whole time, with the exception of dropping down to 5th for two corners.

Poor little fella, felt like I was raping him for all 31 ponies
