Carbs blowing mixture out front
So about 2 months ago I bought a Ninja EX250F8 for a couple hundred bucks because it needed a new timing chain. Fast forward about 2 months, timing chain is installed, bike is timed, lots of new parts and labor (that I did myself cause it was cheaper) and its now running. Only problem is when its running, it keeps blowing a mist of fuel/air mix out of the carbs where the air filter attaches (no air filter box when I bought it, just a bolt on K&N filter). Anyone have any idea why it would be doing that (filter is off right now)? If I can get a picture (or short video of it doing it I will post that so you can see what I mean)

Hey, good job on doing your own repairs!
Sounds like some possible causes: 1. Cam & valve-timing may be off 2. Ignition coils reversed. That is... trigger wires are crossed. |

Initially I had the coil wires backwards, left on the right and visa versa, but Ive corrected that. Timing shouldn't be off unless the chain slipped which it was a pain to get on in the first place since it was new. My neighbor adjusted the idle on it yesterday because it was constantly stalling unless you gave it throttle or kept it choked but he said it sounded like a valve needed to be adjusted or a valve was sticking, and recommended I put some Lucas injector cleaner in it or some seafoam. I put the Lucas in it today and started it to let it run a bit to try to clean up (and lubricate) the valves and fuel system, and thats when it started blowing it back out both carbs. Dont know if the Lucas would have anything to do with it. Really just want it to run reliably so I can ride it. First bike Ive ever owned so its a bit frustrating.

Needles and carb adjustments won’t blow back mixtures. You put the Lucas in gas tank right?
Blow-back is coming from inside engine. Interaction between valve-timing and piston motion. Unless you poured the Lucas into your cylinders. In which case, you may have hydrolocked and cracked pistons. 1. Take pictures of your crank-position mark at TDC. 2. Take pictures of your cam-timing marks 3. Measure all your valve clearances 4. Do compression check 5. Measure your ignition-timing at idle. Post results here. You’d be surprised at how many things are off when you have concrete numbers and data. |

As Danno suggested - double check your cam timing.
That's fairly common on some bikes, but not the Ninja. |

Valves were sticking so I replaced them and re timed everything. I know the crank timing is hard to see but thats 2T at the white line. Havent had a chance to fire it back up yet, right as I finished it started to storm pretty bad and I dont have a garage, just a carport so I had to just pickup the tools and cover the bike until it stops.
