Changed the oil, cleaned and lubed the chain, lubed the clutch cable, and installed my second hydration bag in my new prototype system.

Adjusted my clutch lever down a smidge; Seafoam'd the fuel, but I don't have a lot of faith it will work. Not a knock against Seafoam, but the bike sat before I bought it (3.5 weeks ago), so I'm thinking a carb cleaning is in order; finally, I cleaned my mirrors!

Drained old coolant and replaced with Engine Ice. Snapped off one of the drain plug bolts in the hole. Luckily Asheville has an awesome specialty bolt place that stocks 6x10mm bolts with the correct thread pattern. I also replaced the gauge cluster bulbs which I've Ben putting off for a while.

PSA, check the little things first!!
Well, I feel both badass for solving my problem , and REALLY STUPID for having this problem in the first place.
I'm redoing my jetting and was having some weird idle issues. Like idling irregularly at 3000 rpm weird. popping & flames on decel, poor throttle response off the line but fine up top, etc. Equally bad when hot and cold, but overall not something I've dealt with before. So I started doing some research and came to the conclusion that I had a vacuum leak. Great, I just put these hoses on!!! I put my hose clamps on, and the problem persisted, worse even!!! Ordered some new hose clamps, got the bike torn apart, and found this: can you spot my vacuum leak? Turns out I had a baby leak before the clamps, then forgot to connect the hose to the bottom of my coasting enricher, and made the problem worse. Now that everything is hooked up properly and has proper clampage, it's doing much better. |

Got and installed my yoshimura rearset bracket adjusters and switched to GP shift, also solved an issue with my swingarm adjuster nuts that was causing them to not hold together on the right side. Ended up replacing the nuts and they hold together just fine now
cleaned, lubed, adjusted chain double checked everything...I may be in dire need of a new front brake rotor and possibly more but I'll deal with that after my race tomorrow as it's been working fine so far, However the front rotor is overheating like mad on even a regular commute so I think something may be up. I also am in need of tires, my DRII rear is at the wear bars on the left side after only 1,500-2,000 miles (granted a lot of that was track) Overall life is good and I'm looking forward to racing tomorrow

Put the carbs back in after farting around with float height. Also ordered a 40 idle jet because I'm at 3 turns out on 38's and need just a bit more to get a clean revv-down to idle. While I was at it, I cleaned the fairings and wheels, attempted to RTV the valve cover gasket so I stop weeping oil, and contemplated cleaning the chain. Then I ignored the chain because something funny happened.
I had the ninja in the apartment. School apartment, not supposed to do things like this. I have a rando roomie for the summer since I'm in summer housing. Roomie was at his GF's for the weekend. They got back as I was cleaning the ninja. Her reaction when she walked in the door was, "Oh! uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." and she froze in the doorway with the door open. I looked at her kinda funny and said, "you can come in, it doesn't bite" For goodness sake, I was cleaning a vehicle, not jerking it!! priceless interaction. Whatever, I'll only ever know the kid for another month. Then I'm with a roommate I actually choose, and then will graduate. Silly non engineering students. |

Relocated the oil cooler down, so it won't block the radiator, still have to fabricate a bracket, for now zip-ties.

I've gotten really good at swapping bulbs from under the front oddly.
My stepdad noticed that my low headlight had blown, so traded it for the spare I always carry. Then yesterday, bought a new one and moved the high to low and replaced the high with the new bulb. I do like my Phillips bulbs.

Oil Change. Had a helper. Wasn't much of a helper. Got in the way more than anything.
She made sure I got the correct oil at Walmart though. I always stick a piece of magnet on all my vehicles' drain bolts (motor oil, tranny, rear diff, etc). Here are the metal shavings that got caught.

Well it was yesterday, not today,
Cleaned carbs, replaced air cut off valve, aligned clutch plate. So basically took a bike that wasn't running, or shifting and got it moving. Next up mount the turn signals somehow and run it as a street fighter while I repair a bunch of cracked plastic and replace a handlebar. |

My Scottoiler has been acting up since my vacation. It was seemingly not oiling while in motion, and once stopped would drip oil into a pool under the sprocket.
Bought a ball valve in the hopes of stopping the flow as was told there is a one way valve that Scottoiler began including in kits for hen or if you install the reservoir way higher than the nozzle. Installed everything and noticed that the last two feet of hose the oil continued to drain out, but just a few inches above that the oil was still in the hose. Huh? Disconnected everything and pull it out. Well, looky there! A small little hole worn into the hose from the chain. Tape, heat shrink, more tape and my system works again. Yippee! Cleaned the chain while I was there, and swapped out the Corbin for the stock seat again. Probably going to do an oil change if I remember tonight since it's been 8000 miles.

Today I experienced a problem during the ride. No power at all going up hill, ran out of fuel WAY to soon, and a friendly GS rider showed me the soot in my exhaust.
Got home, and went to work. Guess my air filter was not being cleaned during my shop visits and learned where my spark plugs are and how to change them! Putting in some iridium ones.

^^ has that every been changed, Teri? You have like a million miles on your bike.
I'd go ask some heavy questions about what the shop is charging you for vs what they're actually doing for you. Cuuuuuuz that's a $10 parts that only requires 30 seconds to replace... |

I know I have not changed it, nor cleaned it except when I first got the bike.
The shop already burned me where I'm not going back there. So what they did/did not do is in the past and I'll be taking over more of my own maintenance and using a different shop when needed.

My bike has been sitting since September. Before putting it away for the winter I drained the cooling system. And changed the oil. Then opened up the carb bowls. (CR carbs)
This weekend I put coolant and fuel in and charged the battery. The bike started right up and is about ready for the dyno. Sept 12 for that.

Valve adjustment complete, and if your gonna keep your Ninjette for awhile, I strongly recommend the valve tool from Kawasaki. All the exhaust valves were too tight, but all the intake valves except 1 was okay. Still more to do, next up new chain and sprockets.

As far as the valve tool goes, I agree, but if one can pick one up cheap, and plan to keep the Ninjette for a lot of miles, it's worth it IMHO.
