First longish ride

Hi, with 162 miles on the bike I took off this afternoon for a big loop of rural north Denver, Ended the day with 327 miles on the odometer. Did stop one time for Gas and dinner. Using the trip meter and the fill up. I recorded 61 mpg. Also observed the gas gauge was very close to empty and I was only able to put 3.39 gals into the tank. I thought it should have had less gas than that in it by the gauge. One other observation. The clutch engagement is just a little to far out for my comfort. Can this be adjusted? Adjustable levers maybe?

Comments on the gas gauge and clutch would be appreciated.

The gas gauge is not very accurate. Most people use there trip meter to let them know when it's time to fill up. At 61 mpg you can use 244 miles (4 gal X 61) on the odo. to let you know it's time to look for gas. That would still leave you with .8 gal left in the tank which should easily get you to the next gas station.
As far as the clutch, adjustable levers are the way to go. Do a search and you will find a DIY by nochecaliente.

you should be able to adjust the stock levers. There should be a threaded bolt with another "nut" type thing on it. You can adjust it inward or outward and the tighten the nut again so it doesn't move. Not sure about the new gens but thats how my pre gen is. If not look on the top of your motor, usually there is an adjustment on the end of the cable. Hope this helps

I can still nail 60mpg if I'm in cruising mode. These days, well it isn't as fun as revving the motor up to 12k.
