My closing cable seems to be too slack

I have been searching all threads and I haven't seen anything on the assembly of throttle cables, I am trying to put mine back together and have found my cable just don't seem right, I mean they seem to be going back to where it looks like they go but when you put the handle back together the closing cable seems to be too long, however I took the old ones and compared them and they are the same size, I have fully tightened them and it seems the opening cable works fine but the closing cable loops up and does nothing, everything was fine before I replaced them, I replaced both because the plastic fitting on the opening cable broke in the crash when the handle bar bent down. I am asking just for my own sanity maybe some photo's or advice, I'm sure its not gone back together properly but it is doing my head in at the moment, HELP ME OH EXPERIENCED ONES.

All you need to do is tighten it a little. That bottom nut may have slipped a bit. Don't sweat it, it isn't critical, and is easy to fix.

It is on max already and is about an inch out. I'm sure I have not assembled it right somewhere

there are two adjustment points. at the handle bars and at the carbs. if your handle bars are maxed out, adjust the cables at the carbs.

If we're talking about the opening cable, I would screw the one at the handle bars all the way in, and only adjust the one at the carbs. The reason for this is because the plastic casing at the handlebars break pretty easily. I'm on my third throttle cable because of this.

If we're talking about the closing cable, the only adjustment is at the carbs.

Seems strange, but maybe your cables have really stretched that much.... you might be looking at new cables.

problem found, the cables that were sold to me were not the right ones, after a close examination there were a few differences that obviously made a huge difference, the cable was slightly thinner and longer but the main difference was the outer sheath was shorter.

That would explain things. I sure hope they give you the right part for free.
